Hasselblad is proud to announce the launch of an extremely high-performance, wide-angle Distagon 40 mm f/4 IF lens for its renowned V System cameras. An extreme retro focus lens with 89° diagonal angle of view. Suitable for application areas such as advertising, interior, industrial, aerial, landscape, and wedding photography. An ideal choice for digital applications. The lens is a part of the ongoing redesign of all Carl Zeiss lenses for Hasselblad.

The lens features a CFE-design with an electrical interface through which to transfer lens data to 203FE and 205FCC cameras for automatic aperture priority exposure. The CFE 40 IF is a part of the current CFi and CFE lens line, which is based on the original CF lens program, but with a range of refinements and improvements designed to provide even better image-quality, reliability, and ease of use. These improvements include an internal design and advanced anti-reflection materials that reduce stray-light to a minimum, enhancing image contrast even more.

Advanced Design
In addition, the lens features a true floating mechanism, which uses a single focusing ring to achieve smooth and precise internal focusing. The use of advanced modern glass types and the internal focusing design provide outstanding image quality over the entire focusing range from 0.5 m to infinity. The lens was also specially designed with digital photography in mind. Lens corrections are extremely well balanced resulting in state-of-the-art, top performance.

CF lenses constitute Hasselblad's main lens series with focal lengths from 30mm to 500mm and are intended primarily for the 500 series cameras; They have built-in leaf shutters with speeds up to 1/500th second and flash sync on all speeds

The CFi is the "improved" CF series with increased contrast, upgraded shutter components, a locking PC-socket for flash sync cords, a redesigned and smoother focusing mechanism, a reinforced rear bayonet plate, a non-metallic front bayonet which withstands wear substantially better than the previous design and a new exterior design

CFE lenses have all the features of CFi lenses and also include the databus contacts for complete compatibility to the 200 series cameras
