The FireStore FSC-HD100 100GB DTE Recorder for XL Series from Canon is a digital video recorder designed for use with the XL series of camcorders. The FireStore connects to the camera via a FireWire connection and allows you to record video directly to it, facilitating a tapeless workflow. The recorders supports the DV and HDV video formats, allowing you to record up to 7.5 hours of 1080i HD or DV25 footage.

You have the option of recording SD video in RawDV, AVI TYpe 1, AVI Type 2, AVI Type 2 24p, Matrox AVI, Canopus AVI, QuickTime, QuickTime 24p, Avid OMF or Pinnacle AVI formats. HD video is recorded as a 1080i MPEG-2 transport stream. This allows you to seamlessly integrate your NLE into your workflow, eliminating the need to capture, transfer or convert files prior to working with them.
