Product Information

The RTcom IEEE-1394b Fiber Optic Repeater allows any FireWire 400 or FireWire 800 device to be placed up to 1,640' (500 m) away from a computer or other signal source. Due to the limitations of standard FireWire, the copper based IEEE 1394 cables can extend only up to 12' (3.7 m,) Whereas the RTcom extension system converts the signal to a fiber optic one to transmit over multi-mode glass of fiber(MM GOF,) thus allowing massive improvements in the extendibility of FireWire signals and eliminating RF and EMI noise and interference that copper cabling is susceptible to.
