Product Information

The Sony HVR-DR60 is a hard disk recording unit designed to work with both DVCAM/DV and HDV camcorders and is specifically designed to interface with the HVR-V1U. The recorder connects easily through the camera's i.LINK (FireWire) interface and can record up to 4.5 hours of footage.

Featuring HDD Smart Protection technology insures the HVR-DR60 is durable enough to provide the type of reliability professionals require.

Note! This item will not record video unless connected to a compatible Sony camcorder. This version works for Windows-based computers. To format for Mac follow http://pro.sony.com/bbsccms/ext/hdv/z7u_s270u_m35u/HVR-Z7U/index.html url link.
Features

• HDD Smart Protection Technology

The HDD Smart Protection is a series of built-in technologies consisting of shock absorbers, the 3G Sensor, and buffered memory. The shock absorbers insulate the recording device, displacing any impact the chassis might experience during operation. The 3G sensor detects differences in acceleration and orientation and will momentarily shut off the recording platters if conditions are too turbulent. When the 3G sensor is in use, footage is momentarily recorded to buffered memory until conditions are safe. This buffered memory can be recorded for up to 14 seconds at one time.

• Extended Recording Capability

The HVR-DR60 can record up to 4.5 hours of footage for extended acquisition. This level of continuous recording is perfect for documentary filmmakers and event videographers. The unit also gives users instant access to their footage when connected to a computer. This makes the DR60 ideal for electronic news gathering, especially when time critical editing is necessary.

• Universal File Types

When in HDV mode the HVR-DR60 records directly to native M2T files, while in DVCAM/DV mode the recorder will write directly to AVI. When the device is connected to a computer it mounts as an external hard drive. Files are ready to edit without any capturing necessary. This allows users to focus more time on the creative process and less on the often tedious capture process.

• Hybrid Recording

One unique feature when using the HVR-DR60 is the ability to record two separate copies of the same footage simultaneously to the hard drive and also onto tape. It not only adds a "safety net" when shooting critical footage, it also provides an instantaneous archiving method.

• Power Made Easy

Powering the unit couldn't be easier. Simply use the same Lithium Ion batteries that are normally attached to the camera and you are good to go!
