Product Information

The Sony KDF-37H1000 37" Grand WEGA is a rear screen projector LCD TV with an integrated ATSC Tuner. A powerful lamp projects an intense light through three LCD shutter masks, one each for the Red, Blue and Green picture information resulting in a beautiful high-resolution image. Equipped with HDMI, the Sony KDF-37H1000 frees you from ugly, tangled messy nests of audio and video cables snaking behind your entertainment center.

While not quite trim enough to hang on a wall, table-top sized LCD projection TVs are much lighter and thinner than conventional big-box CRT projection TVs. When attached to your computer, this monitor can be used as an ultra sharp, large computer monitor.

Features

• 3 LCD Chips

Sony uses three tiny LCD chips (0.73") with a combined resolution of over 2.76 million Pixels to process the red, blue and green color streams seperately.

• ATSC Integrated Tuner

If you live close enough to the broadcast transmission towers serving your city, a simple indoor or outdoor antenna will facilitate the reception of over the air digital broadcasts from your local television stations using the ATSC integrated tuner. Many of these broadcasters (local affiliates of ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, UPN, WB and PBS) pass along high-definition signals during prime time. You will still need a special box from a satellite or cable service provider to see high-definition programming from non-broadcast sources such as HBO, DiscoveryHD or HDNet for an additional monthly fee.

• WEGA Engine

This unique Sony technology minimizes any signal deterioration caused by digital-to-analog conversion.

• Digital Reality Creation (DRC) Multifunction V1

One problem you may have heard about with big high-definition televisions is that the fabulous quality of HD spoils you forever for standard definition. It's not that HDTV's do such a bad job of displaying regular video, just the opposite, they do too good a job of revealing every flaw, artifact and noise component, it's sad just how awful standard-definition broadcasts really are. Sony Digital Reality Creation (DRC) makes standard-definition TV look great on your high-definition screen.

• CineMotion

Hollywood motion pictures are filmed at a rate of 24 frames per second (FPS) while video is presented at 30 FPS. When viewing fast moving objects the frame rate difference can result in jittery or juddering motion. CineMotion uses reverse 3-2 pull down technology, also known as Inverse Telecine, to detect the unique cadence of film originated video and reconstruct the original film frames resulting in smoother action when watching movies.

• High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)

A single thin cable carries both high-quality digital audio and video. HDMI is the only interface that can deliver uncompressed high-definition video plus multi-channel audio in all formats.

• Parental Control (V-Chip Technology)

Parents! You can prevent your children from viewing programs which might be inappropriate with the help of V-Chip technology. Use password protection to block or allow shows based on the American or Canadian ratings system.

• HD Detailer

This TV has a Wide Band Video Amplifier with a high-bandwidth frequency rating, which allows it to send more video information to the screen, resulting in finer picture quality, especially for HD sources.

• Steady Sound

Is there anything more annoying than watching television at a comfortable listening level only to be startled by screaming loud commercials? Steady Sound automatically equalizes volume levels so there is consistent output between programs and commercials.

• Component Video Inputs

See the quality you paid for. YPbPr component connections achieve greater color accuracy than composite and S-Video when connecting to compatible devices such as DVD players and video game consoles.

• Front A/V Inputs

Quickly and conveniently connect and disconnect video games, camcorders or other stereo/mono equipment that only gets used temporarily. This leaves the rear connections for more permanent hook-ups.
