The 4 TB TeraStation Live Multimedia Storage Server from Buffalo is a high-capacity hard drive array with an interface that allows it to be connected via wired Gigabit Ethernet.

In addition to providing simple network storage, the TeraStation can serve as a network server for up to two USB printers or USB 2.0 storage devices. 4 TB of capacity allows for storage of approximately 300 hours of uncompressed DV digital video, the equivalent of 851 4.7 GB DVD video discs, or up to 1,000,000 MP3 files.

• RAID Data Protection

The TeraStation can be configured in RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 or RAID 10 configurations. RAID 0 provides the fastest access to your data and full storage capacity, but offers no protection in the event of an internal disk failure. RAID 1 mirrors all the data, cutting the storage capacity in half, but ensuring that data will be intact if a drive fails. RAID 5 gives you 75% of the total capacity by using space to store parity data. If an internal drive fails, you can rebuild the data using the parity data once a new drive is installed.
