If you have a 7.1-channel home theater receiver - you're in luck - this player is capable of decoding Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD audio. Dolby Digital Plus uses less compression than regular Dolby Digital to reproduce fuller and more dynamic sound effects with up to 8 discrete channels of surround sound. In addition, it features a 7.1-channel discrete audio output as an alternative to the optical digital audio output.

DTS-HD Master Audio supports bitrates up to 24.5Mbps, 7.1 discrete channels of 96KHz/24-bit audio, and is ideal for HDMI Version 1.3 cables. DTS-HD High-Resolution Audio also offers 7.1 discrete channels of 96KHz/24-bit audio, but only supports bitrates up to 6Mbps.
