The Buffalo MediaStation 12x External USB 3.0 Blu-ray Writer affords a multi-function upgrade from the traditional USB 2.0 external DVD-writer. Instead of writing DVDs and CDs at moderate speeds, the MediaStation can write Blu-ray Discs, DVDs and CDs at blink-and-you'll-miss-it speeds. It does Blu-ray Disc-writing at up to 12x; DVD-writing speeds can reach 16x and CD-writing can hit a blazing 40x speed.
The MediaStation owes its impressive high-speed writing/reading rates to Buffalo's integration of a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface, which has a maximum data transfer rate of 5Gbps. If your computer does not already have USB 3.0 connectivity, the interface is backwards compatible with Hi-Speed USB 2.0, which makes the MediaStation a future-proof investment.
The Buffalo Blu-ray Writer also has 3D technology and HD upscaling. The 3D pass-through allows you to use the MediaStation as a 3D Blu-ray player, but it can also convert regular movies into 3D. You'll be able to watch your HD home movies in 3D and burn them onto a Blu-ray Disc. Plus, with the CyberLink DVD Upscaling Feature, you can experience regular DVD movies in near HD quality. The CyberLink Media Suite also features PowerDirector, PowerProducer, PowerDVD, Power2GO, PowerBackup, InstantBurn and MediaShow.
