The LensCoat XXXX-Large Hoodie Lens Hood Cover is a neoprene hood cover that fits easily and snugly around your lens hood in either the shooting position or reversed. This can help to protect the front element of your lens from dirt, dust, moisture and impact. The Hoodie features a reinforced removable front element protection disc made from rigid plastic and firm foam to further protect your lens from damage.
In addition, the Hoodie can be used to complement an existing LensCoat lens cover in the same color or camouflage finish.
- Will fit lens hoods with a diameter of 7 to 7.75".
- This version comes in a matte all-black finish to better blend in where desirable.

I like this much better than the almost non-useable one that comes with the 600 VRII. But at least that one is better than the one that comes with the Canon 600:) Regardless, this is just a tad too small for this lens though the description says it is made for it. It will probably stretch a little more to ft better.

Very lightweight compared to the one Canon provides. However the protective disc is quite flexible so if you set the lens down on something pointed, the inside of the hoodie will make contact with the front element.
So if you are looking for light weight protection with more careful handling, this will do that. But if you want tough protection for a $7000 lens, use the original.

Much easier to use than the standard Canon 400/2.8 "boot" cover, which was always a pain. This one just slips over and fits securely in place.

When handling a large super telephoto lens it nice to have a protective cover that is easy to slide on and protect the front element.
The lens cover that comes with canon lens are great for protection, but difficult to get on and off.
