Learning About Photo & Film Scanners
A photo scanner (or film scanner) converts the image on a film negative or slide into a digital file. People use a film scanner to get better digital reproductions than they would by scanning a photographic print. The images made by a film scanner are detailed enough that they can be enlarged without becoming grainy or blurry. It's also important to note that not all film and photo scanners are universally compatible. For example, a 35mm film scanner won't do you much good if you're shooting on 120 film.
