Overview
  • 1Description

Telestream's ScreenFlow 4.0 (Electronic Download) is a screencasting software that lets you capture and record the contents of your Mac computer screen, apply effects and other edits, and export for viewing on the web. ScreenFlow is useful for creating online software tutorials, webinars, demos, how-to lessons, and marketing videos. It features a user-friendly interface and is easy to learn and simple to use.

You can record whatever you put up on the screen, like a PowerPoint file or video game. Whatever happens on the screen, like when you move your mouse cursor, is recorded. You can also record your voice into a microphone at the same time, in order to narrate what's happening on the screen. And, using your iSight camera or any other camera, you can simultaneously record a visual of yourself narrating or presenting, and you can upload this recording into your completed presentation as a picture-in-picture file. In editing, you can apply effects, transitions, titles, background music, and other edits. You can also choose some effects to take place during recording, such as the mouse cursor being highlighted when you click somewhere on the screen, so that your audience can later follow you more clearly.

Your completed presentation can be exported as an MPEG4 or QuickTime file, or as a Windows Media file using Telestream's Flip4Mac software, sold separately; or you can choose to publish from ScreenFlow directly to YouTube, Vimeo, or as a Flash file to your website. ScreenFlow 4.0 is capable of recording resolutions up to 2880 x 1800, thereby supporting even Retina displays; and, employing an efficient algorithm and a 64-bit enabled compression system, it keeps file sizes low, so you can record a lot and piece everything together later.

ALL Features

Recording
ScreenFlow 4.0 is capable of recording resolutions up to 2880 x 1800, thereby supporting even Retina displays. An efficient algorithm and a 64-bit enabled compression system serve to keep file sizes low. The algorithm encodes only areas of change on your screen, thus keeping file sizes low.

Simultaneously Record Sound
While recording your screen, ScreenFlow can at the same time record from an optional microphone, so you can record yourself narrating.

iSight Picture-in-Picture
While recording your screen, ScreenFlow can at the same time also record from your iSight camera or any other camera, an you can then upload the recording into your presentation as a picture-in-picture file, so you can record a visual of yourself narrating.

Recording Timer (New)
You can set the duration (in minutes and seconds) that you want ScreenFlow to record, and ScreenFlow will stop recording when the time period has elapsed, so you won't have to stick around during the entire recording.

Pause Screen Recordings
If you want to take a break during a long screencast, you can simply pause and resume and your finished screencast will appear as a single clip on the timeline.

Optimized for Mac OS X
ScreenFlow 4.0 supports Mac OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Lion, and OS X Snow Leopard; and it makes use of the best of OS X technologies:

- Core Animation
- Quick Look
- Spotlight
- QTKit
- Quartz Composer
- OpenGL
- Core Image & Audio
- Automator
- Core Data and many others
- Fully 64-bit application under OS X 10.7 Lion and above
Editing
ScreenFlow 4.0 supports multi-layered tracks in the timeline for video, audio, image, and text clips. You can reorder them, resize their height, group them together for easy movement, and insert or remove gaps between them.

Nested Clips (New)
With a single click, you can merge multiple elements into a single (nested) clip that can be edited on a separate tabbed timeline. Nesting is useful for complex sequences, creating re-usable elements, and applying filters and actions to join existing content.

Click Effects & Recording Highlights
During your screen capture, ScreenFlow tracks where your mouse cursor is. This allows you to add mouse click effects and adjust the size of the mouse pointer.

Show Keys Pressed (New)
You can choose to display any keys pressed during your screen recordings.

Callouts
Callouts let you highlight any on-screen content, such as the mouse cursor or front-most window, to emphasize it. You can also blur out sensitive data. Freehand Callouts let you draw onto the screen with a paint brush or rectangle tool.

Video Annotations
This tool set allows you to draw circles, squares, lines, and arrows over your video content. Annotations appear as separate layers on your timeline, so you can add effects and transitions onto them.

Titling
ScreenFlow features multiple fonts and styles that you can add to your screencasts.

Transitions
ScreenFlow features over 15 2D and 3D transitions to add between clips.

Chroma Key (New)
Replaces your green background (or any color background) with your own video or still image background with a single click.

Effects Filters (New)
ScreenFlow 4 features a vast set of effects for videos, images, and audio. Video effects include advanced color adjustments, distortion effects, blurring, alpha mask, and color effects. Audio effects include EQ, multiband compression, peak limiting, and delay. Each effect is adjustable for fine tune control. Multiple filters are applicable to a single clip or nested clips.

Clip Speed and Freeze Frames
You can adjust the speed of your video and audio clips, and you can freeze a single frame of a video clip.

Audio Edits & Controls
You can detach audio from video and edit it separately. Audio filters, such as "remove background noise" and "smooth volume", give you control over the quality of your audio. And a feature called Audio Ducking automatically lowers background music whenever a voice over plays.

Closed Captions (New)
You can add, edit, and publish ADA-compliant soft subtitles as caption tracks to your videos. Caption tracks can be created in multiple languages and can also be exported separately as SRT files.

Dynamic Update of Media (New)
Videos, images, and external audio imported into ScreenFlow remain linked to their original sources. If a source asset is modified, ScreenFlow will offer the option to "reload" the modified asset. When reloaded, the asset will dynamically update in the library, timeline, and canvas.

Paste Clips into Timeline Gaps (New)
You can insert a text clip, annotation clip, or any media into an existing gap in the timeline, and this feature will automatically adjust the size of the clip to fit the available space.
Sharing
ScreenFlow features presets for exporting to the Web, smartphones, tablets, and other devices. You can also create and save your own export settings.

MPEG-4 Export (New)
Export MPEG-4 files faster and in higher quality using the H.264 codec.

Publish to YouTube or Vimeo
Export your screencast directly to YouTube or Vimeo simply by selecting Publish to YouTube or Publish to Vimeo from the menu. You can publish publicly or with authorization for select viewers.

Publish to Flash
Convert your screencast to a Flash video presentation, ready for easy upload to your website. The HTML, video, and Flash player components are automatically created by ScreenFlow in a single step.

Export Windows Media Format
Using Telestream's Flip4Mac Studio or Studio Pro HD, sold separately, you can export your screencasts using WMV (video) and WMA (audio) codecs directly from the export menu.

Elgato Turbo Integration
Full integration with Elgato Turbo H.264 allows for speedier exports of your H.264 movies.

Export Part of the Timeline
You may want to quickly test your export settings or export only a select portion of your screencast. You can do this easily by choosing just the section of your screencast you want to export. You can also choose to export only your audio track.

Save Frame (New)
Exports a single frame of your video to a PNG file.
Organization & Performance
ScreenFlow 4.0 adds three new features that enable better organization and system performance.

Media Library Organization Tools (New)
New improvements to the Media Library help you easier find and organize all your clips. These include search list view, 'arrange by' controls, lasso selection, a resizable library window, and a context sensitive 'select clips in timeline' feature.

64-Bit in OS X 10.7 Lion and Higher (New)
ScreenFlow 4.0 runs as a fully 64-bit application under OS X 10.7 Lion and higher, improving overall performance, memory usage, export speed, and scalability.

ColorSync-Enabled Rendering (New)
ScreenFlow 4.0 uses the OS X built-in color management system for increased fidelity of preview and export videos.
