Pictures taken with the B&W Fog Filter appear to have been taken in a fine, bright mist. A natural fog causes lights to glow and flare. Contrast is lower, and sharpness may be affected as well. In backlit situations, there is an even stronger effect. B&W Fog filters are available in grades of 1-3, with 3 having the greatest effect.

Comments about B+W 67mm Fog 1 (663-1) Effect Glass Filter:
I bought this fog filter to use for my night sky photography. Without the fog filter the brighter stars and the no-so-bright stars all look the same, with the fog filter the brighter stars look brighter. That is because the brighter stars get diffused more and appear larger. It becomes easy to see the shape of constellations in the astrophotograph. Also the colors of stars become prominent in the photograph, and not just saturated white points.
