The Radeon R9 290 Core Edition Graphics Card from XFX Force is a computer graphics card with Windows software for gamers and other users who require or will benefit from the additional processing power a dedicated GPU can provide. Not only will the GPU help render graphics faster and more effectively, it can also accelerate computationally intensive tasks such as transcoding video when used in conjunction with GPU-aware software and APIs.
This version of the Radeon R9 290 features a 947 MHz GPU that incorporates 2560 stream processors, which not only act as shaders for rendering display graphics, but also allow applications that support parallel processing to perform hundreds of simple computations at once. To move data to and from the GPU as efficiently as possible, the card features 4GB of DDR5 RAM clocked at 1250 MHz. Because DDR5 RAM transports data at four words per cycle, the effective memory clock speed works out to 5000 MHz.
The card can be connected to a variety of displays, including computer monitors, HDTVs, projectors, and many 3D and 4K devices.
