The DS161 Underwater Substrobe with Ball Arm and Sync Cord Package from Ikelite bundles their DS161 strobe flash with a battery pack and charger, a 2-section ball arm equipped with 3 clamps, and a 1.0' TTL sync cord for connection to a compatible underwater camera housing. The sync cord features connectors on each end for the ICS-5 bulkheads on the strobe and many Ikelite housings. It is coiled in the middle to allow it to expand and contract depending on the length you need, and it can even be wrapped around the ball arm to keep it out of the way. It can safely be stretched to a length of 3.0'. The ball-joint clamps connect the two sections of the anodized aluminum arm, and also connect the arm as a whole to the connectors for the strobe and the grip handle of an Ikelite tray--creating one continuous, multi-jointed support system measuring 18" in length.
The strobe features a built-in 500-lumen video light. It has a power rating of 160 watt-sec and a guide number of 38-76' at ISO 100, depending on whether you're underwater or above water. It provides a 90° angle of coverage, which is increased to 100° when using the included diffuser. The DS161 has a color temperature of 4800K. Its depth rating is 300'. When combined with a compatible TTL system, it automatically adjusts brightness to provide ideal TTL flash exposure. Manual exposure control is also available. The strobe is equipped with an Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead connector, which is also present on many Ikelite underwater camera housings. Use the optional #4401 Fiber Optic Adapter to convert the bulkhead to a fiber-optic cable port.
