Often it is necessary or desirable to balance the light intensity in one part of a scene with another. This is especially true in situations where you don't have total light control, as in bright contrasty landscapes. Fabricated from high-quality CR-39 acrylic, B&W graduated neutral density filters are gray toned in one half of the filter and are smoothly graduated into the clear portion. B&W Graduated Neutral Density filters are available in 2 grades; #501 (approx. 1 stop density at the top) and #502 (approx. 2 stops density at the top).

Comments about B+W 82mm Graduated Neutral Density Gray 502 Filter:
Like all things B+W this is an excellent quality product. I use the 501 filter inside and the 502 outside to balance out bright ceilings and skies for architectural photography.

Comments about B+W 82mm Graduated Neutral Density Gray 502 Filter:
This 2-stop Graduated ND filter is an excellent filter for capturing a wide array of overall tones (in color, and especially in black and white) when photographing in high contrast situations where the EV value range of light extends beyond the range of the ISO/film and/or digital histogram. It prevents blown out highlights and shadows with no detail caused by over or underexposing when photographing high contrast subjects, particularly landscapes. I own several B+W filters. They are very well constructed and designed and the glass is durable and high quality. Highly recommend this product as well as their 1-stop ND Graduated filter.

Comments about B+W 82mm Graduated Neutral Density Gray 502 Filter:
As expected, another high quality filter by B+W. Just want to point out, contrary to the description here on B&H, the filter is made out of glass and brass, not acrylic. The only problem is that they should have laser etched a line on the mount which makes it easier to tell where the grad effect is.

Comments about B+W 82mm Graduated Neutral Density Gray 502 Filter:
Lacking reference mark it is hard to tell where the dark part of the filter is when mounted on the lens.
