The Canon PowerShot G1 X Digital Camera and Underwater Housing Kit from B&H combines an advanced point-and-shoot camera along with an underwater housing to permit photographing in water as well as inclement conditions. Additionally, this kit also includes an LCD screen protector as well as the dedicated, two-piece PSC-6000 Deluxe Carry Case for protecting the camera outside of the housing.
The G1 X features a 14.3MP High-Sensitivity 1.5" CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5 image processor to enable high-resolution 14-bit RAW shooting and full HD 1080p video recording with notable sensitivity to ISO 12800. The sensor and processor combine to form the Canon HS SYSTEM that, in addition to benefitting low-light sensitivity, also markedly reduces noise and improves image clarity. A built-in 4x optical zoom lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 28-112mm, which is complemented by Intelligent IS image stabilization to minimize the appearance of camera shake within six predefined shake correction modes. For image monitoring and review, a 3.0" 922k-dot LCD monitor is available and features a vari-angle tilting design to better facilitate working from high and low angles. Additionally, an optical zoom viewfinder is also incorporated into the camera's design for eye-level composing.
Included with the camera is the WP-DC44 Underwater Case, which protects the G1 X from inclement conditions and water, and has a depth rating of 130'. The housing's design conforms to the form factor of the camera and avails underwater access to many of the camera's controls, including Macro and Underwater settings. Additionally, a built-in diffusion plate within the case helps to prevent unwanted glare and maintain even flash illumination with the G1 X' pop-up flash.
