The DM 5 is a very versatile drum module embedded with some very expressive performance features, and a sensible, easily navigated, and, well..... DRUMMER-friendly design . Apart from use as a remote MIDI playback module for sequencing and sound replacement, the sounds of the DM 5 can be triggered from electronic drum pads or triggered acoustic drums. There are 12 trigger inputs with 5 programmable parameters each, and the trigger-to-MIDI conversion is seamless, and generally, glitchless.
The Expanded Dynamic Articulation feature of the DM 5, invoked via MIDI or the trigger inputs, imparts a high degree of realistic tonal and dynamic variation to the individual drum sounds, as does the unit's 127-level velocity response. And that means greater expressiveness and nuance in performance. Over 540 samples of drum sounds are available, many recorded in true stereo, some with ambient effects, and all recorded at 48 kHz.
