The sweet subtlety of Ilford continues, even after twenty years (the last time I was using Ilford). After a long period (20+ years) not shooting, I took up digital, and then went back to film. The medium format was new to me, and Ilford Delta (100 ISO) and Ilford PanF+ (50 ISO) have been wonderful, as remembered, as expected. Digital b/w, properly balanced and adjusted is stark and naked. Ilford b/w is rich, subtle, creamy, nuanced. Digital and Film are both great, but they are different tools. Film rocks.Rolling is easy, development a breeze (get a thermometer and PAY ATTENTION to the temperature/time ratio) - it really matters!).I scan my negs, adjust in Aperture, and output in archival inkjet. Splendid. [...]

Not sure what the deal is with this film. I've seen it get great reviews, but I wasn't so happy with it. I got 2 rolls of this and 2 rolls of the delta 400, all 4 rolls had light leaks after they were processed, rendering some of the frames unusable. I know for a fact that it's not because of my camera, nor is it my processing skills, maybe this film is just more prone to light leaks than others?

Comments about Ilford Delta-100 Professional 120 Black & White Negative (Print) Film (ISO-100):
I recently shot five rolls of Ilford Delta-100 120 B&W Film (ISO-100) and was extremely happy with the results. The shoot itself was of Art Deco buildings in South Beach, Miami. The results either met or exceeded my expectations at every point! Grain was extremely fine, contrast was outstanding and overall results were very sharp, even when blown up to 11x14. I strongly recommend this film for almost all types of photography where fine grain and a slower speed is called for. My only gripe against the film is that in bright sunshine, it's almsot too fast! I was at the upper end of my meter for the entire day and wished that I had something in the ISO 50 range. But if that's the only problem, then it's easy to work around. Strongly recommended for professionals and amatures alike!

I am a huge fan of Ilford film and this is superb. I use it mainly for landscape photography and I never have a problem with grain with prints as big as 16x20.

Even though exposure can sometimes be tricky the results are great with deep blacks that you don't get with other films. Best to use this film without too much overhead sun in my experience. Spot meter always helps.

I shoot a healthy mix of landscape, architecture and fashion with my Hasselblads. I like the tonal range this film generates for contact prints and its compatibility with a wide range of developers. My favorite combo is Ilford DeltaPro 100 with D-76 1:1 and H-110 1:100. I also like the generally forgiving nature and ability to push/pull.

Magnificent printing quality, fine grain for amazing detail even at large sizes, and sharp contrast all help to make this my standard film whenever I'm shooting anything that's not "just for fun". I use this primarily for my photography classes at my university, as well as for my portfolio work. The only downside is that, since of the low ISO, it can be challenging to get good tonal range and contrast in lower light settings. Definitely best for a sunny day, or well lit studios.
