Have you ever wished that your lens could focus closer than it does? Imagine that you could put a magnifying glass in front of your camera's lens. Close-up lenses are the simplest and least expensive method of achieving close-up photography. B&W close-up lenses are high-quality optical magnifying lenses which shorten the close-focusing capability of your lens. They are available in different "powers" (diopters). A +1 close-up lens will allow you to focus your lens somewhat closer than it already does. A +2 close-up lens will allow you to focus closer than the +1. A +4 lens will allow you to focus even closer than a +2, and so on. These lenses can be used individually or in any combination to achieve ultra-close focus. For example, a +1 combined with a +2 will equal a +3, while a +2 combined with a +4 will equal a +6, etc. The maximum magnification achieved with these attachments will depend on the focal length of your lens as well as the actual close focusing capability of that particular lens. The B&W Macro Close-up Lens, by itself, offers the strongest diopter of +10. When attached to a standard 50mm lens (in 35mm), half lifesize to somewhat larger reproductions are possible.NOTE: The NL10 Close-up lens IS NOT front threaded and is not meant to be used in combination with other close-up lenses.
B&W DIOPTER CHART
NL 0.25 = +.25 diopter with a focal length of 4000mm
NL 0.50 = +.50 diopter with a focal length of 2000mm
NL1 = +1 diopter with a focal length of 1000mm
NL2 = +2 diopter with a focal length of 500mm
NL3 = +3 diopter with a focal length of 333mm
NL4 = +4 diopter with a focal length of 250mm
NL5 = +5 diopter with a focal length of 200mm
NL10 = +10 diopter with a focal length of 100mm

The macro close up lens is what I needed to help get more close up pictures that I wanted to capture.

Comments about B+W 58mm Macro Close-up +10 (NL10) Lens:
I quickly discovered that you must use very high apertures and a lot of light with this filter. I purchased it to use for getting ring shots at weddings and after playing with it a bit I think it will work perfectly for that and I don't have to spend 1K on a new lens just for ring shots. Since I like to get all the bling in focus for rings I like to use an aperture of 13 or higher.

Comments about B+W 58mm Macro Close-up +10 (NL10) Lens:
This lens attaches to the front of your lens and because of its construction does not allow the use of any filters, either behind or in front of the close-up lens. Also, depending on the lens that you use this with, the focus point can be so close that your subject will be in the shadow of your lens.
It is an inexpensive way to achieve a high degree of magnification, but with the above drawbacks. For me, the use of extension tubes for a bit more money is a better alternative.

Comments about B+W 58mm Macro Close-up +10 (NL10) Lens:
Will not work with macro lenses. Must be used on manual focus on my camera because it will not auto focus the objects.

I am having a hard time focusing with this. I haven't spent a lot of time working with it yet. So, I may change my mind.

allows you to get very close macros, but the focal depth becomes very shallow and it doesnt focus too far from the camera...

Comments about B+W 58mm Macro Close-up +10 (NL10) Lens:
It does allow you to shoot very close objects. But if you have some wide angle converter lens with macro capabilities then this is just waste of money. I don't see any difference between this and the macro lens of Impact 0.45x wide angle converter.

Comments about B+W 58mm Macro Close-up +10 (NL10) Lens:
I use this on models, weapons, and other hobbies. I need the fine detail to relate problems, work I accomplished, and fine detail on projects to record. The transition is fast. It attaches with precision and feels professionally built. The clarity is great.

Comments about B+W 58mm Macro Close-up +10 (NL10) Lens:
I use this product on a Sony DSR PD-150. It easily screws onto the primary lens and does the job as advertised. The construction materials seem first-rate and there is no lens slippage in the metal mount. There does not appear to be any color shift or halo effect. There is slight barreling, especially when the lens is placed very close to the subject.
