I can honestly say that I never thought I'd find a lens that could out-perform the EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS at the given focal length, but this gem certainly gives it more than a run for its money. The most noticeable difference is in the bokeh, (the zoom is no slouch in this area either) and I find myself reaching for it more & more frequently unless the zoom is absolutely essential. Incredibly sharp, superb contrast, light and beautifully built in the L tradition.
Just a quick reference to one of the other reviews. I'd suggest sticking to the Canon Extenders rather than going for an after market brand. It's false economy, as some degradation is immediately apparent with Kenko's, plus it defeats the purpose of buying an L series lens anyway.
No noticeable change in image quality when fitted to Canon's own 1.4x version.

This lens is great, but due to the focal length, you have to be wary on the shutter speed, i found my images to be shaky when i shoot later in the afternoon.
i do struggle with auto focusing at times, in which i would have to switch to manual focus
apart from these, the colour and the depth of field is simply amazing!

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Autofocus Lens:
I got this lens a few weeks ago and was very eager to try it out. We were going out with our friends to a botanical garden. I got the opportunity to try out various pictures of family and friends. The photos came out amazing with silky smooth brokeh. With the sun filtering through the trees, the photos came out looking nice and bright. Since I use it on a crop body (t2i), I have to stand at decent distance to capture the pics. But the pics are crystal clear. Love the lens and am really happy with the purchase.

Product -- 5 stars
This f/2 lens allows me to take pictures that I was never able to with a slower zoom. The autofocus is exceptionally fast and sharpness is excellent. This is a great lens for headshots, both indoor & outdoor sports, and generally blurring the background.
B&H -- 4 stars
Excellent price and service, but very difficult shipping policy. I wound up having to go to my local Fedex facility to pick up the lens.

Although this lens was released in 1997, but it is still one of the best lens Canon ever made. Super sharp image and beautiful bokeh. Super fast focus. Doesn't catch too much attention compare with the pro white lens.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Autofocus Lens:
My first impression of this lens was that it is compact, built well, but not light. I bought this lens to replace my 70-200mm 2.8 non IS, which was too big and too heavy to take everywhere. While the size is much smaller, it is heavier than any wide angle or general purpose zoom lenses, which is understandable because it is a f/2 prime. The focus ring is very smooth. This is a big plus because you are probably going to use it often because the depth of field at f/2 is razor thin. Auto focus will get you in the ballpark but you will need to make slight adjustments. The build quality is the standard L lens build, very high quality. I am a little disappointed with the sharpness wide open. It is only decently sharp wide open, sharp at f/2.8, and tack sharp at f/4. Fast primes like this are meant to be shot wide open and at this price I expected better. That is the reason I gave this lens 4 out of 5. There is also noticeable vignetting at f/2 that gets better until f/4. Don't get me wrong, this is a GREAT lens but coming from a zoom lenses and hearing all the talk about how primes are better, I was a little disappointed. If you don't mind the weight and size, get the 70-200mm 2.8 non IS. It is tack sharp, even wide open, and very versatile. If you shoot mostly portraits and like this focal length, you will love this lens. It is not huge and intimidating and it won't make your arms tired.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Autofocus Lens:
I am absolutely loving this lens. As a wedding photographer, it's important for me to have a long lens. I was deciding between the 135L and the 70-200 2.8 IS. Of course the 70-200 is a bit more versatile, but I couldn't give up the "magic" of the prime L glass on a full frame sensor. My goodness is the autofocus fast, and at 2.0, so very sharp.
The only thing that I'll miss from the 70-200 is the image stabilization, but the image quality on the 135L far outweighs the convenience of the 70-200 IMO.

This lens deserves its reputation, especially at this price. I wanted something shorter and quicker than my 200mm f/2.8L, and this 135 has delivered.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Autofocus Lens:
I have the latest EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II so why waste my money on the 135 when you have it covered? In one word, weight. I put the 135 on my 5D and my 2x extender in my pocket and I'm good to go. I rated 4 stars simply because no IS but with the speed of this lense, you can easily do without it. Almost all my lenses are L-glass, with IS when I can get it and when I can't I go for wide aperture, hence, shutter speed. I like the 135 because it's not too long for close shots and great for portraits but when you are in the backyard or the park with the grandkids and want to get close fast, pop on the 2x and you're there. Like all lenses it depends on what you shoot most and your style, I like to shoot from a distance. This is also a great lense to have in your bag when travelling, I usually carry my 24-105, and my 16-35 when vacationing, with a cheap 70-300 for the what if's. From now on the 70-300 will be staying home. The 70-200 is a spectacular lense, handheld on IS it can't be beaten but it is large and intimidating and attracts, sometimes unwanted, attention.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Autofocus Lens:
I have been wanting this lens for a few years and now I have it!...Attached to my 5D MarkII, I just love this lens. It's a 'prime', so it is taking some getting used to since there is no zoom ability. I also have the 24-70 f/2.8L & the 24-105 f/4.0L and I must say that I was surprised that focal length is a little awkward and takes some getting used to. Even going from 70mm or 105mm to 135, everything is suddenly very 'up close', even on a full frame camera. I'm curious to see how it would be on my 50D, but I heard raves about the sharpness and speed of the lens and everything I have read about this lens is true. The color, sharpness and focal speed of this lens is amazing. And headshots...WOW!
It makes a great 'low-light' lens, and at f/2.0-4.0, the bokeh is magnificent!
Most of the pictures require little or no editing, just a little cropping to fit for print. Just be ready to stand way back from your subject when you use this lens otherwise your frame will be filled with a nose or an eye and nothing else.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Autofocus Lens:
Sharp! This lens is freaking sharp. Even wide open at f/2 this lens is sharp. I normally stop a lens down one click but this lens can be shot wide open with no issues. It is also foucuses fast and has great color saturation. The only draw back is that it doesn't have IS (probably a good thing as it keeps this lens sharp) which means you need to shoot it 1/125 or faster or use a tri/monopod. This lens needed no microadjustments on my 1DM4 body as it was perfectly sharp right out of the box. This lens ranks up there with the 85 f/1.2 and the legendary 200 f/2 lenses (I own both of them as well) and at around $1000 it is crazy not to buy this lens. I have had this lense for only a week, but allready done a couple of hundred shots with it.
After reading the reviews on this lense I was quite excited on what I could get out of it. And it has not been a dissapointment. This lense is fast and accurat as described. Shooting indoors at a Taekwon-Do tournament, where the movements sometimes are fast as lightning has not been a probleme. The photos are several times better than expected.
I regret that I never bought this lense before. The result is so good that I will only take this lense on the next tournament.

It took me a while to get in the "prime lens" camp, but I am there now. Sure, you lose the convenience of having a zoom lens, but at the end of the day it is all about IQ for me, not convenience in shooting. I sold my two zoom lenses to get this lens and I coun't be happier.

This is lens is very sharp. Much sharper than the zoom lens 70-200mm. Auto focusing is fast and accurate. And bokeh! No words can describe the Bokehlicious of this lens! And it is much lighter. Now, I only have this lens on ALL THE TIME.
The only complaint I have is it is not 77mm diameter, I cannot use my filters.
