B&W 77mm Linear Polarizer Multi-Resistant Coated (MRC) Glass Filter - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
Multicoated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.
Note! Linear polarizers are used with most video and manual focus photo cameras. They are not recommended for auto-focus SLR cameras

Comments about B+W 77mm Linear Polarizer Multi-Resistant Coated (MRC) Glass Filter:
I put this on top of a Nikon CP to make a variable neutral density filter. It works well within a limited range but the darker end brings blue color shifts which are hard to correct. The filter itself, however, is of excellent quality.

I purchased the 72mm and the 77mm Linear Polarizer Multi-Resistant Coated (MRC) Glass Filter. [...] The product itself is great quality... pricey yes, but quality.

Comments about B+W 77mm Linear Polarizer Multi-Resistant Coated (MRC) Glass Filter:
I use this for cross polarised lighting for paintings. I use it with a 1DS III, mostly with the 50 macro, sometimes with the 90 tse or the 180 macro. I got the linear version because I didn't want the effects that the 1/2 wave plate of the circular types have on the image. Autofocus works fine.
