This collapsible fabric grid limits the light spread of a 16 x 22" Chimera softbox to 40°.
Grids are essential accessories for any lighting system. A grid alters the shape and intensity of the light output from your softbox when it is mounted on a light head. Consider a grid as a painter would a brush, or a sculptor would a knife, or chisel.
Fabric grids are hand-stitched, and collapse easily for storage or transport. Use of a fabric grid will result in a narrower spread of light. The spread of light will be determined by the density of the honeycomb mesh, and the distance of the subject from the light.

Comments about Chimera Fabric Grid for Extra Small - 40 Degrees:
Controlling light is the reason you invested in a light kit. This is expensive, but a must for controlling spill. My only reason for 4 stars is the value... seems over priced.

Easy to attach to chimera. Keeps light from spilling onto background. It's that perfect lighting gadget.

Comments about Chimera Fabric Grid for Extra Small - 40 Degrees:
I have been using chimera products for many years now to modify my lights to a nice soft source.
I also have used "eggcrates" on many soft lights to prevent spill and and "focus" the light into a specified area.
I did have a cheaper softbox and grid (40º) - but over a short period of time, it has become worn and frayed and has not held up to the demands of day to day TV lighting. So, I put a stop to it by getting the tried and true product - chimera.
Of course owning a new Extra Small soft box was not enough - I also really needed to control the "soft" light to the area I want and not spill onto the background - that is why I recently got my 40º soft Grid (eggcrate).
As keeping with ALL chimera products - the eggcrate is sturdy and stands up to repeat usage and best of all it collapses down to a small bag (included with purchase) that easily fits into the same bag as my Extra Small chimera. These days I have 3 chimeras of varying size - all with eggcrates of course.
I would highly recommend that if you want to control your soft light you get a fabric grid.

Comments about Chimera Fabric Grid for Extra Small - 40 Degrees:
I bought 2 of the 40 Degree grids for my 2 Chimera 16x22" Super Pro soft boxes. They are made by Lighting Tools for Chimera.
Extremely well made (quality wise), the grids fit inside the front edge of the soft box with velcro very quickly (about 30 seconds per box). They allow you to place just the right amount of light where you need without spilling light all over the room.
Comes with a small bag (and 2 small velcro straps to wrap around the folded grids - not attached, so careful you don't lose them, though they are not critical) to keep the grid in once it's folded up, and you can put the small bag with the grid inside your Chimera carrying bag so they are stored together.
