Comments about B+W Step-Up Ring (Lens to Filter) 39mm - 40.5mm:
I've got an Sanyo VPC-SH-1,which has no threading on its frontlens,so I bought a 39 to 40.5mm stepping-ring.This ring itself does not fit on the front of the lens, but I used a medicine bottle cap, which had a plastic lining which fit exactly over the lens.I then took an Xacto knife and cut off one end of the plastic lining and the 39mm end fits right into it.I used Loctite glue to fasten the stepping-ring onto the plastic and now I can use the Sanyo Xacti add-on lenses which I already owned, to the front of my little SH-1.Works like a charm ! I can either use the 0.4X semi fish-eye, or the 1.6x telephoto conversion lenses. Since I also have other add-on lenses with a 37mm thread, I also bought a 37-40.5mm step down ring from B&H (they have everything !).One note- expect some vignetting at the lower end,but when you zoom in, the 'black circle' disappears. But it doesn't bother me with the fish-eye,because that's the effect anyway. Hope this helps someone else looking for a solution to adding on lenses to cameras which have no threading !
