I bought this step up ring to use my 77mm polarizer filter with my new lens. I had a canon 24-105 F4L (77mm) and I bought a B+W 77mm multi coated cicular polarizer filter with more than $100.
Now my new lens is canon F4L 70-200mm (67mm) and I wanted to reuse 77mm polarize filter instead of buying a new 67mm polarizer filter. With buying a new polarizer filter, I need to pay almost $100 but this is just about $20.
Of course, I can buy a cheaper filter but it could not be a good choice because a cheap filter can easily degrade the lens performance in terms of focusing and color saturation and etc.
I bought a B+W filters to enjoy the maximum quality of L lenses and it was very wise choices. Now I also selected B+W step up ring although there are cheaper rings. The cheaper rings are plastic and thick. B+W ring is metal.
It works greatly with other B+W filters and L lenses with giving more solid feeling and grip while my polarizer filter rotating.
You believe or not, a cheap plastic ring can cause undesired reflections. I am a very serious amature photographer and I can feel it with the plastic rings and even with cheaper filters.
This metal one will last longer and protect lens with accident shocks.
The thickness is also important. With telescope lense, it cannot be problem but with wider lense, if you have thick filter or ring, then you can see your ring or filter in the corners of your captured pictures.
The gap between filter and lens is very good and coated well to reduce the undesired reflections between lens and filters.
If you have cheap lenses and you are not that serious, then ignore my comments and buy a cheaper one. You would not find any differences. But if you are serious and have expensive lenses, then please, count in every thing what I am saying here, and buy this one with confidence. Paying more $10 is worth than what you expected with having better pictures.

Comments about B+W Step-Up Ring (Lens to Filter) 67mm - 77mm:
The ring is well made and very light
I use it with my 77mm filters on my 18-105mm lens and there is no vignetting at 18mm
Only draw is that you can't use your lens hood with the ring attached to the lens

I use this on my 100mm f/2.8L IS macro lens to step-up to my 77mm filter set. Eliminates issues with vignetting when stacking filters. Ring does not bind to lens or filters.

I bought this step up ring to be able to use my 77mm Canon 500D achromatic diopter on my 100mm macro lens that has a 67mm filter thread. It works great and lets me focus a bit closer with the macro.

This metal adapter keeps you from having to buy multiple filters for different diameter lenses. Screw this onto your lens than screw your filter into this.

There has been no necessity on my part to use this product yet; however, it attaches well to the lens and accomodates the filter well. I am sure it will do the job well should I need to use it.

Comments about B+W Step-Up Ring (Lens to Filter) 67mm - 77mm:
I am using this filter on a 17-40mm Canon zoom lens, L-series, as well as a couple of other lenses (via step-up rings). I had tried the 77mm B+W slim design recently and decided on the Hoya mostly due to not being able to use a regular lens cap on the B+W (the cap that comes with the B+W filter falls off rather easily). I did not do a head to head comparison between the optical qualities of two filters but they both seem decent and have not noticed any optical-related issues on either (color cast, vignetting, etc). I shoot urban landscapes on a regular basis and when used properly, the filter eliminates a good deal of unwanted reflections. I am losing between 1 and 1.5 f-stops, which compares favorably with reported values for other filters. I have not had problems with unscrewing the filter, as some have reported. Overall this is a very good filter.

Comments about B+W Step-Up Ring (Lens to Filter) 67mm - 77mm:
It's definitely useful because it allow to use your 77mm filters but the downside is your filter will get stuck in it and it's very difficult to unscrew afterwards. I have a 77mm thin polarizing filter and I always have really hard time to unscrew it from the step-up ring. Other than that it work as it's suppose to.

I wish B+W made every size, as I would go exclusively with them for my step-up rings. This was great and worked perfectly to allow me to only have to own one size of good quality filters for all my lenses.

Comments about B+W Step-Up Ring (Lens to Filter) 67mm - 77mm:
Great if you only have one filter size ie: 77mm Polarizers, ND filters, Warming, etc. Does not cause vignetting, but hinders ability to use a hood while shooting.
