The B&W 58mm Soft Image produces a subject that contours "flow" markedly softer than the B&W Soft Pro filter. Prominent halos form around the light sources and reflections and bright parts of the subject acquire a noticeable veil of light. This effect is maintained even when the lens is stopped down. It is recommended for portraits and for backlit situations (however, it may be too soft for some landscapes).

Comments about B+W 58mm Soft Image Glass Filter:
I'm modifying a Canon 28-90mm lens to produce, in the (digital) camera, photos that mimic the look of film photos in days gone by. Yes, I know that this can be done in Photoshop, but I don't want to do it that way. This filter is part of that equation and it seems to be working so far.
