The B+W 77mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) Filter is a general use filter with a slight pink tint to help improve overall color accuracy and clarity. The light pink coloration helps to reduce the overall bluish cast of daylight and is especially effective when photographing landscapes and in shade.
The Sky 1A filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Comments about B+W 77mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) Filter:
Very sturdy construction, but a little on the expensive side of UV protectors. I bought 3 of them just because I know that B+W is a good brand and have used them on past camera lenses. If you are a hobbyest I would recommend buying a cheaper UV protector first.

Comments about B+W 77mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) Filter:
This filter has very solid construction, and is exactly what I expected from B+W. I've had great experiences with this brand, and this is no exception.
This went on my Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8. Although the brass mount doesn't bind to other metals, the lens barrel on my 17-55 is plastic so this filter is REALLY tight on there. But I rarely need to take this filter off anyways.
The overview describes the MRC coating and could lead to someone thinking that this lens is MRC coated. This filter is NOT MRC coated, and the description after the first paragraph is a template.
Other than that, I am really pleased with this :)

Comments about B+W 77mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) Filter:
Top quality product and better filter case than other filters come in. As expected this skylight filter has a very slight warm tone to it which is why I chose it over the standard UV filter. This is my first B+W filter. I've been perfectly happy with Hoya filters but since this was the same price I decided to try it and am very pleased and would say the build quality seems slightly better than Hoya.

Don't know why you wouldn't purchase a filter after buying a $1000+ lens. This was the one I picked.

Comments about B+W 77mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) Filter:
I have a Canon 24-70 f/2.8 lens that is quite expensive. Besides providing
protection for my lens the filter improves my pictures immensely. I don't
always like to using my polarizing filter as it distorts the meter reading but by using the skylight filter I get true colors. My polarizing filter fits nicely
over this. I never remove my skylight filter.

There is no substitute for quality. I've used cheaper filters for lens protection and found them to be lacking. You really do get what you pay for.
