The Shure FP33 3-Channel Stereo Mixer is a field mixer rugged enough to handle the elements and flexible enough for professional working environments. It is suitable for electronic news gathering (ENG), field production (EFP), film, television, or recording audio for sound design. The FP33 features 3 high quality XLR inputs and stereo (L/R) XLR output. The inputs and outputs can be switched bettween mic and line level signal. There are 3.5mm Monitor and Tape I/O and a choice of either 1/4" TRS phone or 3.5mm headphone output (both are provided).
The FP33 has panning and level controls on channels 1-3, and the headphone monitor dial provides monitoring of either left or right, dual mono, or stereo signal. Both 48V and 12V phantom power is supported and two 9 volt batteries provide up to 8 hours of use. The FP33 is capable of battery powered with standard 9 volt alkaline batteries and A/C power from a Shure PS20 or PS20E Power supply.
The FP33's Mix Bus output jack allows users to cascade multiple FP33 mixers for simultaneous use, and the professional analog VU meters have proven much more durable against the eliments than LED, LCD, or fluorescent meters. The VU meters feature timed or toggled backlighting and are multifunctional. There's also a built-in tone oscillator for calibration needs, and the Monitor In and modified Slate Mic/Tape Out jacks can be used for 2-way isolated talk back.

We used to the Shure FP 33-3 mixer to record sound for a short documentary that involved multiple interviews. The mixer allowed us to capture the best audio to go along with our great video shots. It is easy to use and setup, good compact size for field recording.

Comments about Shure FP33 3-Channel Stereo Mixer:
The FP33 IS the work horse of our industry. I've had mine for years now and would not trade it for the world. 22 years of EFP/ENG experience and this mixer will be with me till the day I hang it up.

Comments about Shure FP33 3-Channel Stereo Mixer:
This is the same model I used in the early 1990's and why fix something if it ain't broke? Great all around mixer. Only drawback is it doesn't come with AC adapter.

Comments about Shure FP33 3-Channel Stereo Mixer:
I use the FP-33 as the mixer in my field recording kit. It is reliable, easy to use and set up, versatile and sounds excellent. There are other mixers that have more bells and whistles and better looking specs, but they usually cost more and may not be as reliable. The FP-33 is built like a brick. My only objection to the unit is that it is rather heavy for its size.
