Lantern Softboxes are used by still photographers, filmmakers and videographers, for illuminating entire rooms with soft, even light. Choose a Chimera Lantern Softbox according to the size of the room, and your working light fixture.
This lantern softbox comes with a black skirt, which acts as a gobo, and provides more directional control of the light output from your fixture.
Required Speed (mounting) Rings are available separately for your light fixture.
- Use this size for casting omni-directional lighting for a small room, or for adding accent lighting in a larger room.
- Required Speed (mounting) Rings are available separately for many manufacturers' hot lights and strobes.
- Bobinette scrims are available, to diminish the light output.

I used the Lantern with a 5 bulb fluorescent fixture. It provided a great soft light that made the people look great. I didn't need the skirt, but it would come in handy to block the light to the lens if used near the subject in front of the camera. The skirt attaches with velcro.
The only complaint I have is the supports aren't attached to the softbox along the sides, When I assemble it they don't always go into the corners. I have to adjust them. This is no big deal. The rods are very easy to attach to the mounting ring. I look forward to the other ways I can use this great item. The Lantern works with both flash and hot lights, plus fluorescent and LED lights and video lights.
