A B+W 43mm Haze (UV) MRC Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. If desired it can be left on the lens at all times for protection. A haze filter provides additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet (UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details. An ultraviolet filter allows you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees.
A B+W UV MRC filter is an excellent general purpose filter since it will not only protect your front element from airborne contaminants as well as fingerprints but also help you get better images at high altitude and while on the water. Using this filter will diminish the bluish cast caused by the various atmospheric factors, yet, it will not have an effect on the color balance of your shot. No increase in exposure is required.
The filter ring is made from brass yielding a stronger product. Brass filter rings are also less prone to jamming. In addition, the seal between the glass and filter ring is exceptionally strong giving the filter added strength and durability. The excellent Schott Glass used in the manufacturing of this filter is legendary and synonymous with the highest standards of filter production. It comes with a solid 10-year warranty.
The MRC coating on this filter adds to its durability - particularly under less than optimal weather conditions. In addition, the hard coating makes cleaning the filter easier - especially when it comes to removing fingerprints or surface dirt. Moreover, this filter benefits users of digital cameras whose shorter focal length lenses are more susceptible to dirt and other contaminants on the front lens element.
Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Comments about B+W 43mm UV Haze 010 F-Pro MRC Filter:
I use it for my Zeiss Biogon 35 mm. Seems to be working fine. It is solid and the glass seems of high quality. I use it mainly for protective purposes. It seems that due to the protruding profile of the lens, the filter, once screwed on completely, lies very very close to the surface of the lens, almost touching it. I just hope it doesn't.

Everyone talks about that particular Hoya filter that supposedly outperforms, but I'm just after lens protection. And after hard use, none of my B+W filters rattle. At least the ones from this line.

Pricier than I would have liked, but is a premium product. Also is awkwardly the only game in town for decent multi-coated filters in this size. So far, it seems to work reasonably well.

While shopping for a protective UV filter for my new Canon Vixia HV40 I found them at many price levels. I'm glad I went with a better filter. Fits like it was made for this camera. The glass is perfect. Does it's job a remains invisable.

Besides its optical task these filters additionally protect the front glass of your expensive optics. Especially here in my place (desert) such a filter is mandatory. These filters are very well made, no loose parts, screw firmly onto the lenses. Try to keep grease (skin, finger prints, etc) away from the glass' surface which might be hard to clean if you don't have the proper cleaning tools.

Comments about B+W 43mm UV Haze 010 F-Pro MRC Filter:
I needed a UV filter for my Nikon rangefinder 35mm f1.8 lens and since it takes 0.75 thread pitch and not 0.5 mm thread pitch like many 43mm filters, it fit well. Leicas take 0.5 mm thread pitch.

Comments about B+W 43mm UV Haze 010 F-Pro MRC Filter:
I use the filter on an HV30. I've the camera with and without the filter. Since it is Multi-Coated it there will be MINIMAL glare from the sun and it does get rid of the haziness. Of course, if you want to get rid of more haziness and want more protection you will need a more expensive filter. So, for some protection of the lens, haze reduction and anti-glare reduction...this is a great buy!

Some type of protective filter is always a good idea for video and photo. I've used B+W filters before and found them to be optically clear with no unwanted specular highlights. Filters are always a good buy compared to replacing a lens.

Comments about B+W 43mm UV Haze 010 F-Pro MRC Filter:
Ultimate protection without affecting recorded image. Schneider Optics is well know for their glass. The metal ring is solid and goes in and out smoothly. I have an HV20 and HV30 both using this filter. I've mounted 35mm adapters with step up rings with no worries about stripping the camcorder's thread. You bought a camcorder for HD, why compromise with a filter that ruins that image.
