The B+W 58mm 0.6 ND MRC 102M Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 2 stop exposure. This 0.6 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the overall coloration of the image.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

I use it on my camcorder to cut down on the light when outside on very sunny days.

Comments about B+W 58mm 0.6 ND MRC 102M Filter:
It's fine for light control and the enhancement of certain water features. The brass retaining ring around the glass sticks out pretty far: B+W is quite right in making a super-wide-angle version of this filter: anything wider than about 25mm on an Olympus E510 will yield a big black ring around the edge of your photos, so dial carefully. I'm not sure why the B+W filters bind so readily. It could be a matter of brass fighting aluminum. A little irritating, but it's not a deal-breaker.

Comments about B+W 58mm 0.6 ND MRC 102M Filter:
Good construction as you'd expect from B+W. I've used this filter to stop down the light to allow longer shutter speeds for flowing water in the ocean and small creeks. Works perfectly.
