Great piece of security to put on the end of the lens so if it gets bumped, only the end will get mashed at worst, and I have had this save one lens in the past, so I will always have one of these on the ends of my lenses. I can take it off for a shot if I don't want the extra piece of glass there, but the piece of mind is well worth it.

I bought this filter to protect my Nikon lens. It has the same coating as the Nikon lens so I though it would be a good match. The filter is of very high quality and is made in Japan. My surprise was that it actually makes my Nikon lens look more expensive.

I've heard some photographers say that there's no point in putting a clear filter on an expensive lens...that it adds nothing...but the point is that it adds a layer of protection for that expensive lens. They make me feel more secure so I have one for each size lens I own.

I use the clear filter over the 18mm by 55mm zoom lens on my Nikon D5100 camera. I like the added protection when taking pictures of my grand children at play.

I have always used this filter on my lenses and sometimes I would buy it for friends, MY uncle dropped his camera and damaged the filter that I gave him. I told him, good thing that you have the filter on which saved the lens and I said I will just get another one for him.

The last one I had broke after getting smacked with a tripod in Olympic National Park. Saved the lens. Small price to pay for protecting an expensive lens. The optics are clear and it can be cleaned with a small shammy while working.
