I needed a filter to protect my main camera lens. This one fits the bill. There is no noticeable UV protection with this as in some more expensive filters; however, for protecting the lens, this works wonderfully.

I use this filter as a protection on that I never remove from my lens. Quality of the glass is superb. If you pay for a good lens, why not paying for a decent filter? Makes no sense in my opinion to put a low quality filter in front of a good quality lens.

I bought this to protect my new 18-200 VRII lens. It's clear, so of course it doesn't do much other than protect the lens -- but that's not a bad thing. I'd rather damage a cheap filter than an expensive lens.

Sturdy metal ring, no problems with the threads. Glass is top quality -- so clear you can't even tell it's there. A must-have to protect pricy lenses

I live in California, and while I can buy locally, I find the selection and accessory offerings for both audio and camera purchase have been great. I hate buying onesy-twosy on all the accessories from multiple stores and B&H repeatedly has every product and accessory I need - even the really low-demand add-ons that don't always move fast. Before I bought my D5100 base camera with a 18~200mm AF VRII lens, I was worried about the stock add-on Nikon case being the right size. Also I was overwhelmed with 72mm add on filter choices - some of which do not work with certain cameras (certain polarizers for example). I simple quick call to B&H to identify a soft case that would fit my unique camera/zoom combo was quickly remedied - recommending the larger soft case for the D7000 - was done in record time. Plus given all the 72 mm polarizer choices, it was refreshing to get insight for best bang for the buck given the wide price ranges and f-stop reductions being advertized.I've trusted B&H when I was 18 with my first film camera, my Edirol (Roland) electronics, and now my D5100 camera custom bundle at age 50. Lens Nikkor AF-S DX VR II 18-200 mm F/3.5-5.6 G IF-ED must be safe by filter especially in long trips because better to lose the filter than lens. And for Nikon lens I think the best filter will be filter from Nikon.

I feel the advantages outweigh the negatives of having protection on Nikon glass. The filter is made in Japan and speaks of high quality construction, and engineering.

I have the filter on my lens at all times as a just-in-case something happens.

Just a clear piece of glass to protect your lens from dust, fingerprints, scratches, sea spray and the like. Mounts firmly. It's a bit pricey though.

I replaced an old uncoated UV filter with this Nikon Clear filter. It protects the front element from the elements and damage and there is no loss of image quality. No reason to ever remove it!
