Compared this NC filter to the many others I have and noticed it is simply more clear than the rest. UV filters aren't necessary for digital cameras anymore. More light = better. Want less light, use a ND filter or a polarized filter.

I have it on my 24-70mm 2.8G at all time to protect it, I like its name on the ring, "Nikon NC 77mm Made in Japan", it just looks good on my lens, but most importantly, it is really clear, no extra reflection, compare to other protector I had before.

I've been using Nikon NC filters for every lens I've bought. The 77mm I recently purchased again didn't disappoint. It does the job of protecting my Nikon lens without distorting the quality. Highly recommended.

The glass in the cheap off brand filter I was using for my 80 - 200 mm lens fell out while shooting portraits of a bride. Embarrassing and unprofessional. Now my front element has a couple small scratches from not having one of these giving it protection. Expensive to replace. Get one and you can clean your lens with a shirt while working and protect your lens from scratches.

This is the best you can get to protect your Nikon lens glass. Clear in every way, no visible color casting or loss in image quality.

I usually work without it in the studio because it is not need for protection. When I'm working in a harsh environment outdoors I always have it on the lens for protection. I have one of these for each of my lenses and feel it is a good investment. I had my tripod unexpectedly tip over in the field and the front of a $1400.00 lens hit a rock and the filter cracked. But because the filter was on the lens there ended up being only minimal damage to the zoom. The optics were untouched. I sent the lens to Nikon and they repaired it like new for $100.00. If the optics would have been damaged the most likely too expensive to repair.
