We use these adapters on industrial 110V pressure washers. All of these units have 20 amp plugs, but many of the stations they are used at only have 15 amp receptacles. So far, we have had no problems with them.

A heavy gauge adapter that does exactly as one would expect. Always handy to have around on unfamiliar locations.

I purchased a 20 amp Furman rack power conditioner not realizing it would come with the goofy one-side-turned 20 amp plug at the end of the power cord. The reason I got the 20 amp unit was because I figured it would be stronger-built, not intending to run 20 amps through it (the load is generally less than 2 amps)! So, as most receptacles are 15 amp and will not accommodate the special plug, I built an adapting cord so I could use it in my guitar rack, but this made the cord too long when power was close. This little one-footer is just the thing. Strong, simple, idiot proof. You can't plug it in wrong. I rate it at four stars because, while it is exactly what it says it is, [$] for something that should be included with the $419 rack unit is a little sketchy, customer-wise. If not provided along with the unit, Furman should provide a coupon to discount the cost if you buy their power units.Otherwise, solid piece that will outlast the power supply.

This adapter allowed me to use my power washer with standard ac power outlet and saved me a few hundred dollars by avoiding to have a 20 amp outlet installed by an electrician.

I bought a tanning canopy used and then found out it needed a 20 amp plug. An electrician and rewiring would have been expensive. After research, I found this product, which has worked perfectly. Originally I had planned on using a 20 amp receptacle, such as in my laundry room, but I am actually able to plug it into a normal 15 amp receptacle without any problems. Works great and has not tripped the breaker, which has been much more convenient that having a whole outlet rewired. Wish it was a bit longer, but overall does the job needed.

This is an adapter that allows you to put a 20 amp appliance into a 15 amp socket. PLEASE REMEMBER, you still need the socket wired for 20 amp power. If you have a regular 15 amp fuse and try to use this bad things can happen.A am a professional purchasing agent, and am generally pretty good at finding a good price. B&H had one of the best prices at an online shop for this item.[...]

Needed for a commercial treadmill I bought from the gym at work to convert the plug to a standard wall outlet. Works great - good construction. [...] Of course cost could have been lower but couldn't find any adapters at local box stores.

The ADP-1520 can be that inexpensive little tool that can really save the day. We were using a APC 2200 UPS to power a small rack of equipment. The APC was overkill for the amount of equipment we had, but it was the only UPS available at the time. The power connection on a UPS that size is a 20 amp connection and all we had were 15 amp outlets. The ADP-1520 allowed us to connect to the 15 amp outlet and finish the project without the expense of an electrician.
Of course you have to be carefull not to overload the circuit, but in a case like ours where the electrical load was within the limits of the circuit breaker, it was the perfect tool.
