Comments about Ilford Multigrade IV Fiber Based, Variable Contrast Black and White Paper (16 x 20", Glossy, 10 Sheets):

Gotta love this paper, with its deep, rich blacks. It takes contrast filtration well, so despite its cost can be fairly versatile and may represent a savings over stocking different papers.

Tends to be a bit curly and difficult to get flat when dry, like all fiber papers.

If you have a cutting mechanism within your darkroom, each sheet can be cut down to four 8x10 sheets.

I've been working in the darkroom for several. I've experimented with several different kinds of ILfrod paper. I have found my personal preference to be the fiber based. It displayes a ideal amount of grain without looking "dated." furthermore, I just started using 11x14 with my 35mm negatives. The images still print in great detail and allow my work to stand out better then 8x10.

I've always used Ilford and never had a reason to switch. I used this paper to print some high contrast images with a low number filter and got great depth without highlights blowing out.

Ilford's multigrade Fiber Glossy paper is the right balance for stunning prints. It offers the archive-quality fiber based paper, with the ink-drop blacks that the gloss finish provides. My go to paper for a variety of negatives.

Comments about Ilford Multigrade IV Fiber Based, Variable Contrast Black and White Paper (16 x 20", Glossy, 10 Sheets):

I'll be honest; I'm a bigger fan of Oriental Seagull paper BUT for whatever reason, they don't offer (that I have been able to find, at least) 16x20 fiber base in packages smaller than 50. I don't print 6x20 regularly enough to warrant that, so let's talk about the ilford paper.

Outside of Oriental, Ilford is the only paper I have experience with that I trust for exhibiting, and I was not let down with by this ten pack. It has a rich tonal scale with neutral blacks and bright base, and it's favorably consistent. My only two complaints are mostly preferential and based in opinion, the first being that in spite of it being a "double weight" paper, it still feels flimsier in hand to me than Oriental. And second, I feel that Oriental has a brighter base and cooler blacks, and I like a cold-to-neutral tone when I can swing it.

Neither of these discrepancies were anywhere near unbearable enough for me to throw down the chunk of change I'd need to buy a whole package of 50 from my favorite though, and the results are satisfactory enough in spite of my complaints that I will almost definitely buy this product again the next time I need to go up to 16x20.
