Parabolic "Pan" reflector with adjustable deflector shield for eliminating specular light from flashtube, and re-directing it back into reflector. Ideal for portrait and commercial photography where broad, soft, even lighting is required, but has more crispness than a softbox. Includes a silver deflector for neutral color balance, and a gold deflector for a warming effect.

Comments about Softlite Reflector, 27" for Elinchrom - Includes 1 Gold, & 1 Silver Deflector:
The Elinchrom 27" beauty dish is a great addition to my light mod toolbox. I just started using it for children's portraits and it is fantastic when using it for fill alongside my Elinchrom Octabox.

Great product. Had to decide between white and silver. Very happy with silver. More distinct kind of light. Should have bought it long ago. Plan on using it pretty much as my primary light instead of a softbox. Actually comes with Silver, Gold, White and Frosted deflectors. [...]Excellent quality of light!! Well worth the investment.

Beautiful light. Nice assortment of deflectors for fine-tuning the color and quality of the light. Rather large and awkward though.

I use this product for portraiture and any general shooting where I might otherwise use an umbrella rather than a soft box. Yes, I even use two of these configured with one as the main light and one as the fill light. The silver does not change the color temperature. The light that is reflected is the same color as is the light fed into the variable depth deflector if the silver deflector is used. If the gold deflector is used, the light is warmed on the order of a few hundred degrees Kelvin. These reflectors work very well on the Elinchrom heads and these are much more stable than are typlical umbrellas.Contrary to what is typically written, these lights are not overly specular. These lights do give a live large light appearance if properly placed. For all but high fashion and where featureless complexions are desired, this is one great addition to a strobe head. The "shower cap" nylon diffuser accessory works well, but I usually use the reflector without the diffuser. The only disadvantage that I have encountered with my reflectors is storing and transporting. These are relatively large and expensive and I have yet to find a ready-made case for these. A custom case costs about as much as does the reflector.

after using this beauty dish on a few shoots I have to say that I was really happy with the results. The dish isn't as heavy as I thought it would be and it actually does have an area around the edge to put a grid which is not visible in pictures of the product. but that brings up a problem, there are no grids available for this. I've tried to find aftermarket grids and even looked for alternative materials to use, but nothing to fit this dish. and this is becoming a problem because the dish really throws light everywhere. until I find a grid, I will probably just use this for headshots
