Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
This is without question the best and easiest to use developer. Long shelf life and no pre-wash needed.
Using i1 1:1 it last a long time. Using it 1:1 also extends the working time which makes for even development

Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
An easy to use, fine grain developer for film. No heating is necessary, mix at room temperature. Comes in a 5 liter package, so bottles are hard to find in a good size.

Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
I switched from tmax RS to xtol because the stock was getting slime in it. For a powder it is very easy to dissolve and mix. So far no problems with keeping. It gives a good film speed, but not as high as some say, at least with Tmax 400, which I expose at EI 250. The grain seems sharper than with the TmaxRS when I scan it. Subtle and hard to explain. My only complaint is I wish it was one gallon instead of 5 liters. Containers that size are hard to find.

I use Xtol extensively in the development of Fomapan 100. I also used it with Agfapan 100 when it was available. In both cases I got very nice results with good contrast a very low grain. I would definitely recommend it.

Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
I use this developer for Ilford Delta 100 tabular film. Results are much better than with standard D-76 developer, and pretty similar to Ilford's DD-X. Great advantage of XTOL is its environment friendliness. Worth to try it with tabulars.

Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
I use xtol 1:1 on both sheet and roll film, in trays and tanks. It is as reliable as d-76, plus gives full film speed with low toxicity. It's great for both traditional and tabular-grain emulsions.

Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
We do dip and dunk film processing and Xtol is the best B&W film developer made for this type of processing. Is the perfect marriage of D76 and HC110. The long scale and plenty of shadow detail of D76 and the sharp and crisp grain of HC110, withot blocking the highligts.

Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
Xtol is my favorite developer for black-and-white film. I get lower contrast than D76 (better for scanning), smooth gradations, good shadow and highlights. It's basically self-exhausting, too, so it's hard to overdevelop. Since I work overseas, it's good to have a developer that's not very sensitive to questionable water supplies, heat, etc.

Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
This is my favorite developer. I get very fine grain and excellent gradation. The grain I get with this developer is noticeably smaller than what I get with the Tmax developers. I spray some canned air into the jug every time I use it to force out the oxygen and help keep the developer fresh. I didn't mark a date down when I made up one batch, but it was still good until I finished it nearly a year later (I think it was a year).

Comments about Kodak Xtol Developer (Powder) for Black & White Film - Makes 5 Liters:
Still seems new to me although it's been around many years now. Have used with TMax 100, Plus X and, when it was still being made, Agfapan 100. A combination (with all films)of high speed, fine grain and acutance I previously thought was impossible. Very wide range of dilutions and times.
