Lineco Linen Tape - Acid Free Gummed - 1" x 360"
Lineco Linen Tape is a high thread count cloth tape with a water activated neutral pH adhesive which is removable with water.
- Used predominently for hinging or hinge repair
- It is also used for the reinforcement of folders, envelopes, boxes, etc
- Works well with paper, board and most porous surfaces
- It will not adhere to plastic, metal or glass

I have never used linen tape before purchasing this package to using with matting. The instructions were easy to understand, and it being acid free was very important to me, to make my matting archival. I matted about ten prints with it, and still have a reasonable amount left.

Pros: works as intended. seems to hold stronger the longer it is allowed to rest.
Cons: getting the adhesive to activate wasn't the easiest I have used, but that is one of the drawbacks to archival tapes in general. If you allow the adhesive to rest the right amount of time before adhering it to your art/mat board then it works well, too late or too soon after activating the adhesive, it won't adhere properly. also quite a sticky job using it.
But it works as intended, it's archival and holds well if used properly, so you can't complain much about the drawbacks of attaching it to whatever you are using it for.

I use this tape to complete matting projects. It is the only tape I will use. When I went to craft stores to buy it, they didn't even know what tape I was talking about. It worries me to think what their custom framing departments are using as tape on mattes...yikes! FYI This tape is only available, to my knowledge, online. I found b&h was the best deal, and they shipped it quickly. Thank you

I bought this to repair a huge watercolor painting that ripped. It has now stabilized and will not rip again.
Just great product better than self-adhesive.
