The Domke J-2 Journalist Shoulder Bag is a slightly smaller version of the J-1 bag and is designed to handle the larger cameras and lenses favored by professional news photographers. It is made of water resistant double-ply ballistic nylon. There are 14 compartments and pockets including an adjustable padded insert that can be configured to fit the camera and lenses, a fully lined main compartment, two large end pockets, and a zippered pocket that stores filters, film and other things.
The J-2 also features include rubber feet, a removable padded bottom board, a full-length back pocket, two large front pockets, two pen/flashlight pockets, a hand-carry strap with grip, and an adjustable Gripper shoulder strap. Its extra height and length accommodates faster, longer lenses and lens hoods, and allows cameras to be carried vertically (in a padded insert) with the lenses mounted.

Comments about Domke J-2 Journalist Shoulder Bag:
Domke are my favorite bags because they are light, soft and conform to the body. And they are unobtrusive.
The ballistic material is very sturdy and lasts forever.
My only criticism of the J-2 is the side pocket click snaps - the design takes a little getting used to. But the fact that it isn't so easy to open could be seen as an advantage.
I wish this model came in green, like the canvas models do......

Comments about Domke J-2 Journalist Shoulder Bag:
Having used Crumpler backpacks to transport my photographic gear around for some years, I know that there is no such thing as a compromise between design and function. I wanted a Shoulder Bag to access my gear easier, and the J-2 seemed as a good selection. Compared to the looks of the Crumplers, the Domke products are straight out ugly, but then again the Domkes have the advantage of being both versatile and comfortable while a strong construction is maintaines.

Comments about Domke J-2 Journalist Shoulder Bag:
I bought it recently, filled it with all my gear and it is very comfortable (I bought a postal pad with it after readind the rewiews), not that heavy as I expected. only thing what worries me is the metal clips which could hit the lenses in some cases. I like the inner strap so I can move it around open. I am certainly not going to use it for long walks or hiking, but for jobs like wedding shooting or similar events. It looks little big on me, but I feel comfortable

Comments about Domke J-2 Journalist Shoulder Bag:
This bag is good for carrying two camera bodies with lenses attached, two other lenses, flash unit, and miscellaneous items, such as memory cards, spare batteries penlite, pens, pads, etc. It is light and comfortable to handle. All items are readily accessable. Dividers can be changed to better accommodate the items to be carried in the bag. However the straps could be a bit thicker, although a padded shoulder strap can be purchased in addition to the strap that comes with the bag. The bag is water repellant, but not waterproof.

Comments about Domke J-2 Journalist Shoulder Bag:
Domke bags have always rocked and the J2 is no exception.
The reason I chose this over the classic J2 is that the clips on the top flap are sewn on the outside and not the inside like the classic ( the clips had a tendency to hit my lenses inside the bag when closing ). Small point, but saves me worrying about whether or not my glass is going to get scratched.
The ballistic black doesn't fade like the canvas does. The extra padding is debatable, as is the design of the insert, but that's pure personal taste.
My suggestion is to get the postal pad with it because Domke bag straps are notorious for being uncomfortable. However, beware that the pad will soon get all nasty and fall apart after a while leaving dandruff-like particles on your shirt.
Do like I did, cut it off and replace it with the Lowepro Deluex strap :).
