Turning one hot shoe into two cold shoes may not seem like an obvious "5 out of 5 stars", but in reality it's a real quality improvement.
For me, the big deal is getting my shotgum mike (a Rode NTG-2 I purchased here) away from the camera's tape deck. The noise, you see, is sufficient to be audible on the recorded work, and I am really shooting for a nice, clean sound to match the amazing images taken with my Canon HV20.
The result? The sound is perfect. The bracket really sings -- simple, one piece construction, knurled knob makes for easy tightening and loosening, and the different heights make for a useful second shoe location.
No cons, for this use. It really is a terrific purchase.

A handy device
Handy for mounting an extra device on your camcorder. The only improvement I would make is to add a "stop" to the rear of each mount such as that on the camcorder itself.

It's small, lightweight and spaced apart correctly to utilize a light and microphone. A good buy.

Need an extra hand? This bracket provides that! Each of our three field cams use these. We rarely remove them. Elevate that shotgun mic hairy out of the shot. Add a wireless receiver. OK., add a wireless receiver, shotgun mic and an ENG light. That's what we do on top of our Panasonic DVX100's. Been using these for years. How can you do without?

Sturdy piece that helps expand my on-camera mount to ad a few more items. I bought this one specifically to keep my shotgun mic from popping in my wide shots when solo-shooting.

Comments about Cool-Lux MD-3000 Light and Sound Bracket:
If you are using a mic and light on this device, you will find it works great with a light that goes vertical rather than horizontal next to the mic. If doing a horizontal light it will be a very snug fit and you may even get shadow of the mic imprinted on the nearest wall. Also, it's kind of annoying that there is no stop on the hot shoe to help you securely fasten it. That's pretty much the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. It's not that big a deal but it would help when you are in a rush and just need to quickly attach something.

Comments about Cool-Lux MD-3000 Light and Sound Bracket:
Simple but well designed. The two different heights make perfect sense once you try putting both a light and a mic on there and they seem to be well spaced for the task. I didn't get any noticeable shadow from the mic, so the alignment seems well thought out.
Also, on my HDR-AX2000 (and probably similarly designed Sony cameras), it puts the mic in a location where you can easily open and close the view screen. Without the bracket, the back of the mic and the cord were in the way because of the placement of the shoe.
Finally, the construction is nice. Good, solid metal so I have no worries about this thing breaking on me one day.

In general, I'd say it's a little bit pricey, but anyways, I'm using it and works well with my lights and mic. And I couldn't find a similar item according to functionallity/price ratio.Simple and well built, the screw just look from being taken at any [...] store. The aluminium body is Ok.

I use this product with a canon hv 20 and usually the shoe on the camera doesn't allow me to see through the diopter and so the work isn't accurate. This bracket has improved shooting conditions and I like that it's solid.

This bracket allows me to put my wireless mic receiver and my H4n on my 7D hot shoe super easily! It tightens down nicely, and if positioned correctly, the offset height is perfect for counterbalancing the lens' weight.

It's lightweight, sturdy, and doesn't take up too much room in the kit. I'm using it for run-and-gun videography, using it to hold a microphone and an external monitor on an arm on top of the camera. Cheaper than a shoulder rig...

every professional videographer ends in need of additional cold shoe mounts for their cameras as our gear keeps increasing, right from shotgun mic to on camera videolight and also wireless receiver for lavalier mics. I mounted shotgun mic on higher shoemount and videolight on lower shoemount so that i dont generate shadow of mic in my video shots. its made of solid aluminum.

Comments about Cool-Lux MD-3000 Light and Sound Bracket:
My old, but trusty Sony HDR-FX1e has pretty poor mic.. So I use external Rode microphone but then I can't use on-camera lighting kits.
I've considered selling the camera and buying a new Sony camera... But luckily, with bit of research, I found the MD-3000 bracket on few websites..
With the MD-3000 bracket, I can have both on camera lighting and Rode mic at the same time.
The bracket is not too large, and it's very sturdy.
If you are looking for a bracket that is worth much more than it's price, than this is it.
I recommend it to anyone who finds themselves choosing either mic or lighting kit for video shoot.

Works very well and is very light weight. Great to attach my Zoom H4N and a shotgun mic. Just wish it had one more attachment for a light or monitor.

Comments about Cool-Lux MD-3000 Light and Sound Bracket:
I use it to mount a 35-LED camera light and my wireless audio receiver. The spread on the legs is just a little too narrow. Also, best use is fore/aft and not side-to-side. The order you mount the light and receiver will make a huge difference in camera balance, with the higher mount making the biggest effect. For what it is, it is REALLY expensive, but I have not been able to find any reasonable alternatives.
