Elinchrom 17" White Minisoft Reflector for Elinchrom
The Elinchrom 17" Minisoft Reflector is a Parabolic "Pan" reflector with adjustable deflector shield for eliminating specular light from the flashtube, and re-directing it back into reflector. It is ideal for portrait and commercial photography where broad, soft, even lighting is required, but has more crispness than a softbox.
This reflector fits any Elinchrom flash head and includes silver, gold, translucent and frost deflectors to cool, warm or diffuse the light output.
- An optional diffuser is available to provide even more softening of the light emitted from the flash head.

Gives excellent results. Would be nice it it could take grids although as the center reflector protrudes beyond the plane of the bowl, I don't think it could be easily done.

Creates and uneven catchlight in the eyes when used by itself (the outer rim is brighter). Would be better if the dish was deeper.. I am glad I followed Scott Kelby's recommendation and purchased it with the 17" diffuser. The combo gives a nice result, although the outer rim is a bit brighter.

Bought this BD as a smaller, more travel friendly modifier for some adventure type photography and location portraits where my 50" octa was too big or too wind-prone. It's a bit small, and I wish it were bigger for the days I wasn't' traveling, but for close head shots or for location, it does the trick nicely.

Again Elinchrom created an easy to install and remove accessory for their light systems. This reflector is not only easy but has interchangable deflectors to adjust the quality of light, this is something that my last dish for another strobe system did not have. I havent used it a great deal yet but can tell already it will be a favorite.

This is a great beauty dish if you want a more compact version. It is slightly more harsh than a 22" dish. I use a Ba$tard Amber gel, or 3/4 CTO with great results. This is best used on younger models. The light is a bit harsh for older models.

I added the 17" white minisoft for the reason to save space in my studio, and have at least one light that was quick enough to position for a hot rim or key. I use it now as my rim when shooting with the Octa as my main.
The best, aside form the size, is that with the diffuser, it can act like a sharper soft box, and when using the reflectors..it adds just a touch of tone that you wouldn't normally get. Perfect for replicating the sun through a window!
I have found no drawback to this reflector... what would make it more amazing.. would be the ability to swap the white for silver on the dish itself.. someday, that'll be.. for now, I have white.. and love it!
I'm using a bx500ri with it, and with the minisoft..it works fantastically with the modeling lamp for lower light portraits, as it bounces SO much light!

I love this piece of kit, for me its the ideal light source for beauty or fashion shooting. Harder than a softbox but still with a bit of feathering to shadows and it also gives nice catchlight in the eyes. I wouldnt do a shoot without it.
