Necessary to connect to my Pocket Wizard but very useful to allow remote triggering of shutter using second Pocket Wizard. Allows greater distance from camera for remote shutter control. Example is setting up camera to shoot hummingbirds using macro lens close to favorite plants. Shutter can be triggered from a distance without scaring hummingbirds away.
I also prefer this method for mirror lockup shooting to avoid having to hold a corded controller.

I bought this cord to use in two ways. One, to fire my camera remotely from another camera and two to use as a cable release for long exposure photography. Attached to a Pocket Wizard it works exactly as advertised.I only bought it, however after searching fruitlessly for an alternative. The price is WAY out of line for what it is; a cable with a plug on each end. With 35 years of experience in the manufacturing industry I can tell you, there is no reason this product should sell for more than $19.95.

This is a cable, what else can I say. It works, yes... but oh well, it's just cable, how can it not work?? The problem is that this is WAY to expensive, there's no reason why this product costs more than about 19 bucks like someone else mentioned here. And as far as I know there are no alternatives, so unless you try to do it yourself, you have to buy this ridiculously expensive cable.

In era of the Nikon F3 and for decades prior all you needed was a 'cable release' , which would cost usually no more than a lens cap and a super-premium product might cost up to $35.00. Today, you need to spend some $80 for the 10 pin cable and then you need a set of pocket wizards which is another several hundred dollars. Is this progress?!! Back in the day, in the 'golden days of television' transmission was over the air and free. Today for lesser programing you first need to sign up for 'Cable'. Is there a theme here?

This cord is for connecting Nikon 10 pin shutter triggered cameras (Such as the D3x and the D200) to an external controller such as the Pocket Wizard. I use it to connect my D3x to a TTL I/O port on a micro-controller. I Hi-Z mode for off, and pull the signal pin to ground to fire the shutter. The barrel of the mini phone plug is ground.

I bought this cord to remotely activate the shutter on my camera using pocket wizards. I needed something to use for my photobooth that I take to weddings where the person in charge of the photobooth would not have to be a photographer. Now I just setup the ringflash, background and the camera and let my assistant run the show while I am doing what I am paid for, photographing the bride and groom.

I love this thing. I have used it once so far and it has proven itself worthy. It is easy to connect to the camera. It allows me to put the camera one place and shoot from another. I think it is a must have in your bag.

I use this cord for smaller weddings when a second shooter is not needed. Setting a second camera up in a balcony in the church or at the reception with a wide angle lens for additional coverage is great. Its like having a second pair of hands or another assistant. The only downside to this version of the cord is the camera does not go to sleep. It draws a little more power, but not a great loss.

The cord works great for remote triggering of my D-200 With SB-900 flash attached. It attaches nicely to the ten pin socket on the camera and has a slight angle to it for a better fit. I gave it four stars only because it doesn't come with a protective cap for the ten pin socket end. This would be a nice feature to protect the pins from damage while in your camera bag. Very good Product though.
