The Chimera 16 x 22" Maxi Bank softbox is designed for use with a portable (on-camera type) flash. With fabric not intended for the heat of a continuous light, the Extra-Small Mini Box with silver interior is ideal for work in small spaces when only slight softening of your flash is desired. Because of its small size and silver lining, the light quality will be more specular with a faster gradation from highlight to shadow areas, than with a white-lined softbox.
The 16 x 22 " size is ultra portable and lightweight.

Good construction. Instructions for putting it together were not great, but I called Chimera and got right through to someone that helped me quickly. I have used it a couple of times now and it works well. I wish the swivel bracket had come with it, instead of another purchase I will need to make.

Goes together quickly and collapses nicely for use on site or in the field. Good size for general portraiture and field documentary portraits. Works nicely for off camera triggered slave. The product seems robust enough in its build, but I can't speak for longer term or what it would be like after a hundred or so assembly and disassembly runs. The fit of the support bars into the adapt ring mount is solid and stiff, may loosen with time. You're corked if the adapter slots break.

This is a fantastic product for use with a Nikon SB-800. It softens the light like nothing else and allows a degree of lighting nothing else offers. It's light weight, easy to set up and very portable. The required speed ring is a space age plastic that will take years of abuse. Add a light stand or boom set up, off camera TTl cable and you have everything needed for any type of single portrait lighting anywere. If you don't already have one, you're missing out.
