The B+W 82mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention. The slim filters are specifically designed for use with wide angle lenses and are only 0.1" / 3mm thick. They do not have front threads for stacking additional filters.

I use my UV filters as extra protection for my lenses and I just want to not think about them. This filter is just that. Perfect because I don't have to think about it.

82mm B+W UV filter and B+W polarizer circular filter will not thread on simultaneously in either sequence. One has to be removed to mount the other.

Comments about B+W 82mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
This filter is amazing, I can't tell any difference with and w/out it. It is ultra slim so there is no vignetting caused by the filter. There is no tread for adding other filters on top or the lens cap. The filter comes with a soft plastic cap that attaches on the outside. It must be removed when putting on the lens hood or removing it, but it's not too much of an inconvenience.

Used as a "transparent lens cap" for a wide-angle zoom, the B+W filters are first rate. They are optically clear, resistant to scratches and clean easily.

Nice and slim just like is says. Using it with a Matte box so don't need external thread. If you do get the other version. Quality optics and build. It's a lens protector and UV filter for my expensive Fujinon lenses. Get one

I bought this for my Sigma (Canon) 15-30mm EX lens. My daytime shots have improved considerably. The exposure doesn't need hardly any post processing anymore!!

Comments about B+W 82mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
While I dislike the fact that an alternative to a standard lens cap is needed, the filter does its job (and at a fairly cheap price). There has been a significant reduction in vignetting on my 16-35.

Comments about B+W 82mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
I needed low profile UV to protect my video lens but not add any length that would interfear with my matte box. A little price, but very low profile, and works great.
Comments about B+W 82mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
I use this on the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L. It is a very nice filter. A little pricy.. I wish it was half the price but it serves the purpose of protecting expensive glass from possible scratch. It does come with a plastic cap instead of a regular lens cap. I guess it serves the purpose. You will not be able to use factory lens cap with this slim filter.

This is an excellent quality filter. The protection cap could be a better one.

Comments about B+W 82mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
B+W make high quality filters--no disappointment here. With some lenses, you simply don't really have the choice to use a filter that has a regular thickness without adding a noticable vignette (such as the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM II that I use this filter with).
The problem is that in using a slim filter, you lose the threading that is normally used to attach the lens cap. To overcome this issue, B+W supplies a floppy/rubbery snap-on cover with the filter. The problem is that it does not hold very solidly and cannot be installed while installing/uninstalling the lens hood. Moreover, when the hood is in place, the supplied cover is hard to install or remove, which adds to the frustration.
All in all, one wonders if the added pain is worth saving the small vignetting that would be caused by using a regular filter...
