A B+W 67mm Haze (UV) MRC Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. If desired it can be left on the lens at all times for protection. A haze filter provides additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet (UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details. An ultraviolet filter allows you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees.
A B+W UV MRC filter is an excellent general purpose filter since it will not only protect your front element from airborne contaminants as well as fingerprints but also help you get better images at high altitude and while on the water. Using this filter will diminish the bluish cast caused by the various atmospheric factors, yet, it will not have an effect on the color balance of your shot. No increase in exposure is required.
The filter ring is made from brass yielding a stronger product. Brass filter rings are also less prone to jamming. In addition, the seal between the glass and filter ring is exceptionally strong giving the filter added strength and durability. The excellent Schott Glass used in the manufacturing of this filter is legendary and synonymous with the highest standards of filter production. It comes with a solid 10-year warranty.
The MRC coating on this filter adds to its durability - particularly under less than optimal weather conditions. In addition, the hard coating makes cleaning the filter easier - especially when it comes to removing fingerprints or surface dirt. Moreover, this filter benefits users of digital cameras whose shorter focal length lenses are more susceptible to dirt and other contaminants on the front lens element.
Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.
B&W slim filters are for wide-angle lenses and are 3mm thick. They do not have a front thread.

Comments about B+W 67mm UV Haze 010 MRC Filter (Slim):
I would say that B+W filters are among the top from what you can get in this field. That means that you should go with those filters pretty much only in those cases when you either need the best photo quality possible or when you are a photo freak (such as me) that wants to have every photo pretty much perfect.
In other words, this B+W filter is a very nice piece of equipment and probably one of the best ones in its field but it is also very expensive. You are going to get pretty much the same results if you go with any other filter manufacturer - there will of course be an increase in vignetting (which you hardly get with this particular lens) and the photo quality might go down a little bit. But you save a lot of money and, as mentioned before, if a superb technical quality is not your main goal, then you don't really need this filter. Don't get me wrong, it's a great filter and I like it a lot, but the difference in performance between this one and much cheaper filters from other manufacturers simply does not equal the difference in the price.
However there is one, probably already mentioned, disadvantage and that is the lens cap. Since this is a slim filter you cannot use the original lens caps from the lens manufacturer but instead you have to use those provided by B+W. There are not bad, in fact I find them better in some ways, but they tend to come off the lens quite often either while being carried in a bag or when being pulled out.

Comments about B+W 67mm UV Haze 010 MRC Filter (Slim):
Because of the slim design this filter comes with a slip on lens cap, which works nicely. Product quality is great, clear optics, to be expected from B+W I suspect, but overall very happy. You get what you pay for, and with the price comes this quality.

Comments about B+W 67mm UV Haze 010 MRC Filter (Slim):
The MRC filters by B&W are, in my opinion, the best regarding the optical quality (I always buy B&W MRC series filters). This is also true regarding this item.
If you are going to buy it, remember that the standard lens caps will not fit. The manufacturer provide a dedicated lens cap instead. Unfortunately, it is not a perfect solution. If you do not use a lens hood, you can easily take off and fit again the cap. But it can be loose and slide off the filter while taking the camera out of the bag. If you are using the lens hood you can easily fit the cap and do not experience it sliding off. However, you experience the problem with taking the cap off. It may become impossible. It is also impossible to take off and fit the hood without taking off the cap.
Summarizing, regarding the optical quality this is the best slim UV filter on the market but be prepared for some inconvenience.

Comments about B+W 67mm UV Haze 010 MRC Filter (Slim):
This filter is very good quality, but is the slim variety. Take care with lens caps as it does not fully seat each time unless you make an effort to seat it. No problems with the device and it avoids vignetting on a 16mm DX crop lens.
