The B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.
A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention. The slim filters are specifically designed for use with wide angle lenses and are only 0.1" / 3mm thick. They do not have front threads for stacking additional filters.

Comments about B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter:
This filter works great, my only complaint is that it does not have front threads- I know it doesn't because of how thin it is. Just know going into this purchase that your giving up the front threads for the thin filter.

Comments about B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter:
I really like B+W filters for their quality.
They use good construction materials and have a good finish too.
The circular polarizer does its job nicely. The ring is very smooth to rotate. However, due to it being of a slim design, one cannot use the regular lens cap. So, the a special cap is included with the filter which one can use.
As far as its functionality is concerned, it does the job well. It cuts out reflected light nicely. As with all polarizers however, one loses 1 or 2 stops. It gives skies an excellent blue color.
I will highly recommend this product especially since it comes with a 10 year warranty.

Comments about B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter:
After reading many reviews about B+W filters, I decided to buy this slim CP for my Nikon D90. The quality of this filter is amazing and an extra bonus is that it came with its own cap with "Schneider" embossed on it! You cannot use the cap that comes with your lens as there are no threads on the CP filter, but that's OK. This was my first purchase from B&H. [...] I Will definitely order from them again!

Comments about B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter:
This filter is nice and slim, it's well built and is pretty good in quality. The only problem I have with it is the lens cap that came with it - it doesn't fit too snugly and tends to fall off if you leave the filter on your lens in the camera bag. The lens cap from the lens itself can't be used (I think it's because of the slim design) as there's no outside rim to clip on the lens cap. It's recommended to get the slim version if you have an ultra wide angle lens which I don't. So if I had to do it over, I'd get the regular design (vs. slim). Should probably get a filter holder if you don't have one already because the one it came with is pretty bulky.
The quality of pictures I take with it is pretty good, I'd say but I haven't used it enough yet.

Comments about B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter:
I use the polarizer for landscapes (darkening the sky), removing reflections from water (lakes, ocean and rivers) and from windows.
Great things about the polarizer is it's thickness. There is none. No more dark corners on my wide angle photos.
A little hard to screw on the front of the sky filter that is on the camera. I'll get accustomed to doing it.
