B+W 82mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter
The B+W 82mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.
A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention. The slim filters are specifically designed for use with wide angle lenses and are only 0.1" / 3mm thick. They do not have front threads for stacking additional filters.

Slim design doesn't allow for traditional lens cap, comes with (loose) push on cap. Easy to get fingers on the glass because of such low profile. No vignetting with 10-20 lens. Obviously can't be accessed with hood on (not specific to this filter).
Fifth star would be accorded if a decent lens cap were provided.

I used it to shoot through the car window for a TV commercial. It blocked out some of the reflection but it only stopped a small portion of the reflection. I wished it had more range. I wouldn't call it great but it did work OK. At first it was a little difficult to get the effect I wanted and to keep it mounted.

Land scape photos and anything outdoors, love the colors rich and clear. I would of given it a 5 star but the cover for the filter slips off to easy not a good design almost lost the cap on the first day of shooting.

Even though it is difficult to screw off once on, I found the filter to effectively perform for photos I took at China's Great Wall. However, since the cap never stayed on it became a great inconvenience trying adhesive tape. With $5,000.00 invested in camera and lens, It felt a little tacky. Calls to both the east coast and west coast office resulted in no solution. However, B and H recommended a $10.00 Kaiser (KALC85) that is a little wider and fits perfectly. Thanks B and H.

Typical CPL filter. It does not work with the cap of my Canon 16-35L. Supplied cap is very loose - I lost it during first week of shooting. It's also unnecessarily thin for my lens, to a point that putting it on/off is becoming quite a challenge. I suggest Canon 16-35L users consider other options.

Being SLIM it's sometimes a little bit tricky to handle. The cap is not really helpful, but as I only leave it on the lens while shooting, normally I don't need the lens cap. Image qulity though is excellent, just as expected.

Great slim filter at a very resonable price. IMHO the best value for filters in this range. Slim design works great in preventing vignetting. I use this on my Canon 24mm TS-E. The Canon lens cap wont fit but they include a schneider slip on cap. That lens caps that is included is just fine and anybody famillar with large format lenses and their caps will do well with the one they include.

This polarizer has an overall good/strong construction. The polarizer has an extreme slim design, perfect for extra wide angle lense on fullframe body.
The only disadvantages is that the canon lense cap does not clip due to the slim design, and the lense cap that comes with the filter does not stick well in place.

Great Results as expected, the only reason for the 4 stars is the filter/lens cover which does not serve the purpose, always falls off, of the course the canon 16-35 2.8 II lens cover doesn't work with it.

This polarizer is used on a 21 mm Zeiss lens I recently purchased. It has very good glass and is easy to use. The slim design is useful when using wide angle lenses. The drawback to this, however, is that the filter cap comes off easily.
