We shot video for many years with the Sony VX-2100 and we still use it from time to to time. We needed a wireless microphone and decided to go with the Azden WLX-PRO system and we weren't disappointed. We shot 100's of videos including political videos, weddings, music videos, interview, etc, and the Azden WLX-PRO system worked perfectly 99% of the time. The Azden WLX-PRO system worked from ten feet away to 200 feet away. Amazing for the price. When we decided to go to HD we moved to the Panasonic AG-HPX170, but the AG-HPX170P didn't have mini pin audio inputs like our Sony VX-2100. When we looked at our options for a wireless microphone we were shocked at the prices. Then we found this Mini Female to 3-Pin XLR Male Cable for [$]and when we tried it using our Azden WLX-PRO system with our Panasonic AG-HPX170 the Azden WLX-PRO wireless system worked great. The video below was shot using the Azden WLX-PRO wireless system about six feet from the camcorder. Can you imagine the difference if I had been twenty feet away from the camcorder. http://youtu.be/7Vl1gHBZi-w

While not the best accessory for great sound recording, I have a lavelier mic that's mini, so I needed something to get it into my recorder. Cable works great.

The connection with the mini end has to be tinkered with in order to get the connection.

There are thousands of mics with 1/8" mini-jack connectors. Surprisingly, there are very few adapters to connect these ubiquitous mics with XLR equipment. Before buying this adapter, I had no good solution, when someone showed up with one of these mics. I used a chain of three different adapters, when I was faced with the problem of connecting a mini-jack mic to an XLR input. That was a bad solution, degrading audio quality and prone to static.
This adapter gives me good audio quality, and the ability to connect commonplace microphones to my mixers and amps. The 6' length is useful in situations when you want the mic to be fairly close to the amp or the mixer.
I have had this adapter for a short time. It looks well made, and has given me no problems. The plastic insulation is more flexible (less stiff) than many cables, which I like. The cable diameter is similar to XLR cables, rather than the skinny mini-jack cables.
