I use the DXA-4 primarily for church video productions. I hook a wireless lav transmitter to the church's audio board output and send it to my lav receiver and into the DXA-4. I also have a camera-mounted XLR shotgun mic for "live" sound. This really adds production value to these types of events. BeachTek is know for quality products, and the DXA-4 is no exception. Good build quality at a reasonable price. XLR inputs on the side of the unit are rock-solid. I like that I can hook it up in no time at all, and that the volume controls for the left and right channels are conveniently located. With so many controls to adjust during a shoot, I know I don't have to worry, as I don't have to take my eye off the viewfinder to adjust the audio controls on the fly. What more can I say? Great product!

I plugged it in and it worked great. I had to figure out the stereo and mono part but fairly straight forward.

This unit has a secondary mounting spud that does not fit on my Canon Vixia camcorder. I tried to pull it off but it's very securely fastened. THe extra spud is great if your camera has two mounting holes for tripod mounting, as it adds stability. But if your camera only has the one threaded tripod mount - look into something else like the "Sign Video" unit.

Have owned the DXA-4 for a few weeks now. I should have bought the DXA-6HD. Dont get me wrong the unit works just fine. I would like to move the XLR inputs from the left side of box to the back end. The XLR cable gets in the way on my Sony FX1.

Very handy feature-wise. But my DXA-2s was bad out of the box. The right pot shorted unless the pot was 90% up. I've decided to try the Sign Video unit.
There's no excuse for these to be bad out of the box, other than poor manufacturing standards.

This is actually my third DXA-4 we use them on three of our kits. I actually just purchased another one because after 6 years are old one finally gave in. I noticed that on the new DXA-4 Beachtec has made several improvements that in the past were problematic areas. Overall I love the versatility I actually use this on four different cameras when needed.

This adapter works perfect. I hook up a shotgun mic to my Sony HDR-FX1 with no problems. It mounts to the bottom of the camera but you are still able to mount it to a tripod.

if you dont have xlr ports on your camera like me, then this is the product you are looking for!
i must say i am no pro at all this audio stuff, but thanks to this xlr adapter and shotgun mic combo, i was able to put all the pieces together!

I wish vx2100's had balanced xlr's but that'd make the handles or whatever bulked out like the pd170. I like being able to add and remove the DXA-4 quick and easily. The set up is super easy and I get no added noise. When connected, the DXA-4 has a perfect footprint with no wobble and balances pretty decent with other peripherals.

I now have one of these on each of my Cam's. Makes for crystal clear mixes on location. I don't think I could ever be without it. Would like to see one with 4 inputs which would really be outstanding.

I use this audio adapter on two of my older Sony Video Cameras and it works great. Since the device moves with the tripod head there is no contact with the cable which means no chance of noise being made by the cable. I wish I would have bought this device sooner.

I owned this for awhile, like someone already said, expect it to break, only mono works right now, the mixer knobs don't even function, the product is just about worthless, I had to buy a whole new one. Works fine, when it is working, but I was unlucky.

Have been using BeachTek XLR adapters for my cams for years now and have owned 3 of them. Audio has been fine with all of them but all had problems with the mini-plug cable cutting out...so expect to do a soldering job with the cable within its lifetime.

Problems Encountered: The stereo mini-plug cable breaks easily. Each one of my BeachTek adapters had cable issues and had to be re-soldered.

Clean sound and easy to attach on the camera. I use it with our VX-2100's.

Problems Encountered: It's noisy if you want to adjust the level while recording (you will actually record the clicks oing from one level to the next). It breaks easy (once every year for me) and is expensive to repair (repair costs 1/3 of the original price).
