Comments about Chimera Speed Ring for Canon and Nikon Shoe-Mount Flashes:
I wanted a way to use my speed lights with the same soft boxes that I use with my studio lights while being able to trigger them optically with CLS. This was one of the only products that came up and looked like it would work. It works. It is a little sketchy and difficult to attach it to an umbrella bracket that is a non manfrotto one. However, the light sit right where it should and I am able to trigger it optically (unlike the Apollo box).
No light spill outside of the box and the light is nice coming out. The Speed Ring is a bit hard to get securely screwed tight so that it doesn't start swiveling the whole soft box if I pick the stand up.
I might have to get a manfrotto umbrella bracket to make the mounting easier. But the quality of this product in regards to build is good.

Comments about Chimera Speed Ring for Canon and Nikon Shoe-Mount Flashes:
I have another softbox system for my Nikon speedlights, but the flash sits entirely inside the softbox. I prefer this Chimera setup because the IR and photo sensor stays outside the softbox and easily communicates with my SU-800 IR transmitter or other on-camera master strobe.

Does what it is supposed to do, does it well. Can't speak to its long term build, but seems solid enough.
